Fall Fashion Trend 2009: The Military Jacket

Coats, jackets and blazers that reference a military or band look are really big for Fall 2009. We've been seeing a lot of this trend in the wake of Michael Jackson's death, as well as following Balmain's Spring 09 collection (not surprisingly, Balmain designer Christophe Decarnin was influenced by the late King of Pop and other '80s icons). If you don't own one already, scoop up an affordable military jacket to spice up a simple t-shirt and jeans combo, or to toughen up a cute dress. I feel like these never go out of style as long as you stick to a clean design that isn't too costumey. I'm a fan. Are you?

I have the BB Dakota one and really like it. It’s lightweight, so it’s a good transitional jacket. And it also comes in white! It looks cropped on me, but I also have a long torso.

Thrifting is also a great way to find a military style jacket—some great looking vintage ones out there. Etsy too!

I am obsessed. I did a post on this not too long ago also. One of my favorite trends. Check out my Fall into Fashion posts for my favorite fall trends!

You RULE. I saw an ad for that Macy's one and just knew I'd never track it down myself.

I love the look of a great military style wool jacket. Definitely, something I want to invest in for the cold winters on the East Coast :-)

I am a military girl. I wear them every season. I was wearing one of my favourite military jackets when we met, Dianna! I happen to be posting about military jackets tomorrow, so I’ll link to your post too. For my style, military jackets are always in vogue.

I actually purchased a military style jacket at Hot topic a few years ago for my husband. It was rather simple rather than "gawth" and fits perfectly with this trend. Too bad it's way too big for me to steal!

Target offered a military vest not too long ago but I didn't pick it up. Wish I did.

Anyone know if it's still available?
