Beauty Review: Yes to Carrots Lip Care

Kiki Bella, The Budget Babe's resident beauty expert, says yes to Yes to Carrots. Will you? —BB

I am such a sucker for a great product in a great package. Yes to Carrots, a complete family of paraben-free skin and hair care products, has three lines of really awesome lipcare/color that I can't say enough about.

Yes to Carrots C Me Smile Lip Butter is touted as "the first 95% USDA certified organic lip balm available in drugstores" (like Walgreens). And, shockingly, it's a really awesome lip balm. I say shockingly because, I hate to say this, but many times products (and I'm actually thinking very specifically about lip balms, glosses and tints) that are labeled "all natural" and/or "organic" are kinda gross. I always hoped that someone would come out with products that are both good for us and look good on us.

Lip balm is the one thing I would want on a desert island, and I consume large amounts of it (I don't literally eat it, but you know what I mean). As a result, several of my health conscious relatives have made not so subtle remarks that I will end up with some kind of lip cancer (is there such a thing?) as a result of using so many chemical based balms. I am happy to have found Yes to Carrots C Me Blush Lip Butter ($3.69). Its got a lovely texture and makes my lips feel soft and my conscious clean. These lip butters smell awesome, and come in five delicious flavors including Berry, Citrus, Mint, Carrot and my personal fave Melon. They are all great flavors, Melon, Berry, Citrus and Mint are kinda self explanatory (although I have to say they are exceptional for what they are, none of that fake smell, these are clean and crisp and so fresh). Carrot is the odd ball out, but don't be turned off, it's got a light almost herbal scent that makes me think of summer gardening. (cont. below)

Want some color with your organic lip treatment? You can either pick from six gorgeous lip tints or six beautiful lip glosses. The C Me Blush Lip Tints ($4.49) are really nice when you want the sheen of a lip butter but just with a touch of color. I tried all six available colors, and usually I pick out a favorite to tell you all about, but I honestly loved them all. They are very subtle, and are very easy to wear. Even the coral hue (Coral Sunshine) looked great on, and that's a difficult thing to do with a coral lip color. If you're looking for a little more drama, try a C Me Shine Lip Gloss ($6.49). Available in six beautiful colors, you will want them all. Once again I tried hard to pick a favorite, and I really can't, Red Hot is dead sexy, Playful Nude is perfect to finish a dramatic eye look, and Flirty Pink is the perfect shade of pink gloss.

While I could just go on and on about how great these products look (on and off the lips) I think it's important to note that they are also extremely good for your lips. Ingredients like organic carrot, orange, pumpkin, melon, coconut oil, olive fruit oil, jojoba seed oil, sunflower oil, vitamin E, beeswax, shea butter, carrot seed oil, and carrot root extract can be found in each little tube.

Yes to Carrots also gives back. A portion of beeswax used in both the lip tints and lip glosses is sourced from the Tung Teya community in Africa; and all of the proceeds from the sale of the beeswax are channeled into the community to build schools, enhance health care and improve overall quality of life. Support organic products and make yourself even more beautiful at the same time, Say Yes to Carrots!

Their Yes to Tomatoes lotion was the worst I've ever tried. It smelled of a spilt perfume aisle and made my skin very red.

I might try their lip stuff though since you mentioned their smell is actually good.

Was the Cocoa Loco a particularly dark brown or more of a lighter color? I'm on a budget and am debating between that or Red Hot!

I would go with brown for fall. It's a really nice color, it isn't heavy and obvious- red is also really pretty, but I personally love the brown
