Ask BB: What to Wear on a First Date

I just recently started using an online dating site, and will be going on my first date. We'll be going out for coffee in the afternoon. I'm very nervous and have no clue what to wear to make a great first impression. I'm 23, and I live in Chicago. The weather here has been [warm] and sunny. —Caroline

When going on a first date, you want to be yourself, be comfortable and be approachable. Now is not the time to test drive new styles or trends that you wouldn't normally wear. You also don't want to come across as trying too hard - just be yourself!

Here are three outfit ideas that I think would work well for a first date at a coffee shop in the afternoon - opt for natural makeup and a good luck charm (for example, wear your favorite color, a meaningful pendant or a light spritz of your favorite perfume) for a little added boost of confidence.

Saks Launches Flash Sale Site Today

In case you needed another excuse to shop online, Saks Fifth Avenue is launching a flash sale site, www.saksfashionfix.com. The inaugural sale starts today at 12 noon ET and will feature apparel by Elizabeth & James. Saks FashionFix offers merchandise from one designer for a limited time up to 70% off to its members (membership is free, you just need to register before you can shop). The green E&J military jacket pictured above, for example, is regularly $395 and you can scoop it up for today on sale for $158. This move on the part of Saks clearly speaks to the continued popularity of flash sale sites - and traditional retailers are scrambling to keep up with the likes of Gilt Groupe, or alluring "clubs" like JewelMint. Do you find these sorts of sales irresistible? A big waste of time? Both?

Ask BB: Mila Kunis' Lightning Bolt Necklace from Friends With Benefits

Not sure if you've seen Friends With Benefits, but Mila Kunis wears this super long skinny gold chain with a lightning bolt charm on it throughout the movie and I need it!! I'm not in love with the lightening bolt but in my quest for the right chain they're either too thick, too cheap looking, or not super long like hers. Help and I'll be forever indebted! —Samantha

According to Coolspotters, Mila's character Jamie wears a Lightning Bolt Necklace by White Trash Charms, which I found for $170 at PatriciaField.com.

Update: Mila's exact necklace is NOT by White Trash Charms, but by Lizzie Scheck and retails for $790. (via Possessionista)

Lunch Hour Shopping: Hype Handbags and Apparel on Gilt

Gilt Groupe is hosting a Hype sale today, featuring apparel and handbags priced mostly under $100. I love the one Hype handbag I own, purchased at T.J. Maxx for around $99 - at the time, that was the most I ever spent on a bag (surpassed only by my Foley + Corinna) and it happily proved to be a sound investment. It's a great quality bag that I still love and use regularly. So if you're in the market for a new bag or want to browse the chic day dresses and feminine blouses, head on over to the sale!

Gossip Girl's Eric Daman Creates a Legwear Line for DKNY

Eric Daman, famed costume designer behind Gossip Girl, has teamed up with DKNY on a capsule collection of hosiery hitting stores in August. Comprised of eight uniquely patterned tights - including jacquard, floral and polka dots - the line is totally in step with the DKNY legwear so often worn on the show by actresses like Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. I think this collaboration is a match made in heaven and I'm sure Gossip Girl fans will agree. A great pair of tights or over-the-knee socks can really help you update your fall wardrobe without spending a fortune. Find the Eric Daman for DKNY collection at Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, DKNY and DKNY.com ranging from $15 to $24.
