Ask BB: What Should I Wear to a Black Tie Wedding?

I have been invited to a black tie wedding and have absolutely no idea what to wear. I have never been to a black tie event before, especially a wedding, so I'm stumped. I have a little black cocktail dress that I wore once before to a movie premier and was leaning towards wearing that dress. I think I should also add that the couple are religious, so I can't wear anything too revealing. The dress I wore to the premier is pictured [at right]. I added a beautiful feathered belt to the dress, which came together very nicely. Love to hear your thoughts. —Stacy-Ann M.

While I love the cocktail dress you've shared, you'll probably want to wear a floor-length dress if the invite says "black tie." If it says "black tie optional," then you can probably get away with a shorter cocktail dress. As a general rule, it's best to err on the side of being over rather than under-dressed. Besides, opportunities to get this glammed up don't come around that often so seize the chance to go floor-length and fabulous!

It doesn't hurt to do a little detective work, too. Ask friends, relatives or even the bride to help clarify the dress code expectations. Bring a shawl or jacket so you can cover your shoulders during the religious portion of the ceremony (always a safe bet at any place of worship).

5 Under $50: Fourth of July

As we celebrate the birth of our great nation, our fashion focus naturally turns to the red, white and blue. And while I will be donning some form of this patriotic palette today, this color combo is pretty much perfect all summer long. Here are 5 stars 'n' stripes pieces that will keep the spirit of Independence Day alive in your wardrobe for weeks to come:

Off the Rack: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's July Highlights

Here are some photos I snapped of the LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's collection during a recent Kohl's trip, which some of you may have followed on Twitter and Instagram. (It's like we're shopping together!) On this visit, I saw dozens of summer dresses in charming prints like vintage bicycles, pink flamingos, palm trees, colorful stripes and pretty florals. Many of these dresses could be dressed up with heels and a white blazer or dressed down with flat sandals and a denim jacket - love that. Other highlights included denim cut-offs in mint green, white, coral or peach and casual cotton skirts.

So what did I buy? I scooped up some green crop jeans on sale for $45 (down from $60) from the LC line, 'So' neon yellow skinny jeans for $15, ELLE colorblock flat sandals for $22.99 and Sonoma life+ style striped espadrille sandals for $20.99, PLUS everything was marked down an additional 30% at the register and I earned some Kohl's cash good thru July 15. All in all, it was a productive shopping trip!
