Decorate by Number: Mint and Pink Living Space

Mint and Pink

In my "Decorate by Number" series, I'm showing you how to get Pinterest-worthy decor looks for less! This week, we're getting inspired by a soft yet luxurious mint and pink living space. For more home décor inspiration, visit my blog, A Vintage Splendor.

Mint and pink with a hint of yellow. The subtlety of this room is perked up by the sweet blend of pastels and the rich fabric of the chairs, silky lined drapes, and opulent mirror. This combination is a refreshing take on creating a luxurious corner in a room or even using it as an inspiration to create a larger living space at home. Symmetry of a space or room is very important especially when you are working with a few statement pieces. This space would definitely not work with just one pink chair or a larger mirror. The chairs and credenza are bold yet dainty and the mint backdrop maintains this balance. The soft color palette and symmetry make this space for perfect for me - it’s comfortable luxury for an entryway of a home or as a sitting area of a master bedroom.

Beauty Splurge vs. Steal of the Week: YSL Touche Eclat

YSL Touche Eclat drugstore dupe

In this weekly column, I’m bringing you my favorite budget-friendly beauty products - and their high-end equivalents. This week, we’re chatting highlighter pens (!). Also make sure to check out my blog, HonestlyJamie.com for even more beauty product reviews and tips.

The first time I tried the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, I was completely confused why I needed it…but then I did some research and became completely OBSESSED. So what the heck does it do? Essentially it’s a luminizing pen that brightens the skin by drawing in light. It helps to hide signs of being tired, making it perfect to use after a long night out or an early morning. My personal favorite use for the product is to create fuller-looking lips; you simply apply it in the hollow of the chin and around the contour of your lips and, I swear guys, my lips look instantly fuller. But $41 for a tiny pen? Ugh. Don’t get me wrong, the YSL Touche Eclat is a CLASSIC; it’s loved by every makeup artist and celebrity that you’ll ever meet…but I recently found a great dupe:

Wear Gold, Win Gold During 'May Is Gold Month'

May is Gold Month

Did you know? May is Gold Month and it's in its 11th year, celebrating the love of all things Karat Gold, from fashion-forward to everyday classic gold jewelry. In honor of this fashionable anniversary, I'm sharing one of my favorite pieces of gold jewelry from my personal collection - my 14 Karat Gold antique "snake" ring from my Grandmother. It's meaningful because it's unique, just like my Grandmother, and the gold offsets the tiny diamonds and rubies (my birthstone!) so well. I love to layer it with other delicate gold pieces, like my initial ring, and some gold bangles. May is the perfect time to wear gold since the weather's warming up and gold pairs beautifully with colors like coral, turquoise and white. It's also the perfect time to treat yourself to gold must haves (think classic hoops, the perfect gold chain bracelet or gold boyfriend watch). Plus, gold makes a great gift, from Mother's Day and graduations, to bridal showers, weddings and anniversaries!

May is Gold Month is also hosting three amazing giveaways! Read on for the details...
