Off the Rack: Fall 2016 Fashion Highlights at Walmart

Walmart fall fashion highlights
This time last year I shared fall fashion highlights at Walmart (here), and it was one of my most popular posts ever! I went back yesterday to scope out this season's fashions and round up my top finds for 2016. So let's get started: My favorite plaid shirts by Faded Glory are back, easily one of my top picks because they wash and wear so well (easily as good as the BP plaid shirt I got last year at Nordstrom if not better, and better than my plaid shirts from H&M, to give you some point of reference for quality). I don't know why these are out of stock online, but check your local store. Mine had plenty. These are nice, too, in a slightly lighter weight fabric (which can be good or bad depending on what you're going for).

Jean Queen: Bella Hadid's Distressed Mini Skirt and Perforated Leather Boots Look for Less

Bella Hadid Look for Less
Out of my entire wardrobe, my denim pieces are the most frequently worn. Not only is it affordable, it's so easy to style since it can fit into any aesthetic and can be paired with anything, including more denim! Here Bella Hadid mastered the double denim look by pairing a Levi's mini skirt with a lace-up white tank, matching denim jacket and perforated stiletto ankle boots. To accessorize, the model wore small silver hoop earrings, blue gradient aviators, layered choker and chain combo, and carried Fendi's Dotcom Lace-Up Leather Satchel ($2,900) with the brand's 'Strap You' Leather Guitar Bag Strap ($900). I'm really loving the return of denim basics and pairing pieces together totally reminds me of styles from the '90s and '00s — especially with the addition of the choker, another iconic piece from these eras. In this recreation I've kept the look near exact, including a similar toned satchel that also adds texture and depth through leather detailing, best part is it's under $60! In Detail: Hilary Duff's Navy Sweater and Floral Embroidered Ankle Boot Look for Less

Hilary Duff Look for Less
New York Fashion Week's runways showed tons of embellishments, accessories and accents, proving that contrary to the recent minimalist trend, this is definitely the year of 'more is more' in fashion. Here Hilary Duff flawlessly demonstrates how to balance both maximal and minimal style aesthetics by pairing Laurence Dacade 'Pete' Embroidered Velvet Ankle Boots ($990) with a navy sweater, dark skinny jeans and a warm brown bucket handbag. To top off the look Hilary wore trendy flat-lens sunglasses and a large gold ring on her middle finger. I live for these boots. The detailing, the materials, the silhouette — every aspect is amazing, except for the price tag. Read on to shop my finds including two comparable pairs of ankle boots to get Hilary's look without breaking the bank.

Off the Rack: Threshold Fall 2016 Collection

Threshold at Target
Yesterday I checked out the new Threshold collection at Target, featuring fall-perfect pieces to update your home for a cozy season of pumpkin spice lattes and movie nights in front of a roaring fire. You can bring texture into your home with rustic wood trays or candle holders, stay organized with a woven felt basket, add light with a leather strap hanging mirror, or spruce up your mantle with rustic-refined turkey or fox figurines, and velvet pumpkins. Threshold always has a way of making me want to completely redecorate whenever I see a new collection drop, and this one is no exception. Of course I don't act on my impulses, but rather picked up a few pieces from the previous collection which are now on clearance. Sometimes it pays to be patient. I'll be waiting for some of these new fall items to go on sale, too, before I pounce. They're so perfect for Thanksgiving but stylish enough to keep up all season long. See anything you can't wait to bring home? Shop all Threshold here.
