The Budget Babe Talks Sex and the City Style for Less on Better Connecticut

The Budget Babe talks Sex and the City Style for less on Better Connecticut

On today's episode of WFSB (CBS) Better Connecticut, I talked about how to get Sex and the City 2-inspired style on a budget. TJ Maxx and Marshalls provided all the clothing & accessories for my four gorgeous models, each decked out in off-price designer duds inspired by the fab four: Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda.

Here are the key points I shared to help you channel the SATC vibe without spending a fortune!

  • Carrie: The iconic fashionista and trendsetter, Carrie loves to mix and match and make every look her own. And of course, she also looooves shoes! We dressed out "Carrie" in a black cocktail dress with sequin embellishments, layered with a graphic black and white wrap cardigan (unfortunately not shown in my photo, but trust me they looked fab on set!). We accessorized with a satin flower clutch, oversized cocktail ring, dangly earrings and sky-high platform pumps.

  • Charlotte: Prim, proper, preppy Charlotte loves classic, feminine styles, so we put our Charlotte in a nude sheath and strappy beige pumps to update her look for this season. To really elevate the look, we added an inexpensive rhinestone bib necklace, pearl stud earrings and ruched leather satchel—little touches that make a big impact!

  • Samantha: The vixen-bombshell never shies away from bold colors and eye-catching accessories, so we dressed our Samantha in a vibrant blue dress which we accessorized with an affordable python belt, designer snakeskin hobo and chandelier earrings. You'd never guess but the earrrings were actually the most expensive item in this look! Not that we'd ever pay full price, just sayin'…

  • Miranda: Our sophisticated Miranda needs a look that can take her from the boardroom to a posh bar, so we opted for a soft, fluid jersey dress in a flattering eggplant hue, then topped it with a gray blazer and added a leather tote. Again, designer finds at 20-60% off retail! All in-season, all department store brands. Gotta love it.

Thanks again to the entire crew at Better Connecticut including co-hosts Kara Sundlun and Scot Haney. Also a huge thanks to our four fabulous models and to TJ Maxx and Marshalls for making it all happen!

Those outfits are gorgeous! But the prettiest is the floral dress. Where did you get it?

$19.99 at TJ Maxx! The brand is "Snap" (never heard of it before but I just loved the print). I'm kind of in love with the dress, it has a built in shelf bra and the spandex/cotton fabric is light, airy and moves with you.

I love all the girls's looks. I hope I could pull every girls's look into one, but I think my favorite is Samantha or Carrie. Now if I was just rich like them...lol

I adore stores such as TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross for beauty and fashion on a budget! All it takes is a little searching and some people love to do this. For those who don't, they can pay full price at Macy's! LOL
