Beauty Review: Wet n Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner

Beauty Review: Wet n Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner

A couple weeks ago, I received a free sample of Wet n Wild Mega Liner Liquid Eyeliner in dark brown and it's seriously become my favorite must-wear makeup product. Mind you, I had sworn off liquid liner long ago as something that was too difficult to apply and too dramatic for everyday wear. Boy, was I wrong! I don't know if it's the fine-tipped brush or the pigment-rich formula or the almost-black-but-not brown hue, but this stuff has been a real eye-opener. Literally!

Yes it takes some practice, but at just $3.99 a pop, you can afford to practice to your heart's content. Once on, it takes a few seconds to dry, then becomes virtually smudge proof (yet comes off easily with eye-makeup remover or soap and water). It's tough to correct mistakes but that's the risk you run with all liquid liners. However, the benefits are well worth the effort: That sleek, dark line applied to the top of the lid gives eyes a doe-eyed, wide-open look that's flattering on everyone and really shows up nicely in photographs, too. It's surprisingly subtle yet provides amazing definition. To my sister (who wears liquid liner daily): I'm sorry I doubted you! You were right, I was wrong ;-)

Do you use liquid eyeliner? Which would you recommend?

Does it smear? Like when you open your eyes... does it leave marks? Or smudge easily? Those have been my major gripes with liquid eyeliner. I've been using MACs little liquid pots, but theyre not really liquid. My quest for the perfect/easiest eyeliner continues!

Nope, doesn't smear or smudge. I know you're supposed to remove eye makeup each night but I wore this to bed and it looked fine the next day, too. Granted, I do not rub my eyes once I have eye makeup on--I wear mascara daily and have contacts so it's best if I don't touch my eye area.

I also tested the Wet n Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner but I didn't care for it. It bled a little and went on like a permanent marker (even the felt tip applicator feels like a marker) and it takes a lot of rubbing and makeup remover to make it come off. Guess it would be good for a day at the pool or beach!

E.L.F. liquid eyeliner is my favorite! It's only $1 and definitely my favorite. I never used to use liquid liner, then bought this one on a whim, and I'm obsessed!

I'm also wondering if it smears with dewy eye lids. I can't even get waterproof liners to stay put all day! What's wrong with me? :-)

I'm also a blond...do you think this is a color that you would wear every day?

I actually cried while wearing this stuff (for some stupid reason, nothing serious, haha) and it stayed on. So it might work for you. I have blueish eyes and blondish hair and I feel like this dark-brown is a good color for me, perhaps less severe than true black, although I'd be willing to try black, too. It looks weird without mascara so I'd definitely pair this liner with mascara.

I was ALWAYS opposed to using liquid because I thought it was the hardest thing to keep it in a straight line, however I recently went liquid for the first time ever and I tried L'Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner and I love it!! Especially because of the felt applicator. The black can be intense depending how you apply it but with practice and practice I can apply a thin line and I love how I can make the cat eye much easier =)

I vouch for this one too! I'm obsessed with the definition of a liquid liner and basically wear it or gel liner everyday. A pencil just smudges too much for me. Right now I'm using Bobbi Brown gel liner - it's a bit pricy but the pot is HUGE and super easy to apply.

HEY BB - selling all my designer clothes on my blog, DVF, MARCH JACOBS, all less than $100. Check it out :-)

I LOVE liquid liner... I haven't worn it in many years but it used to be my staple.

I'm going to a classical (ish) orchestra type concert in Poland next month, I'm totally going to get this stuff and retro it up!!

(um Poland/Finland trip is the reason I'm selling my stuff... thankfully Wet and Wild is cheap!)

I use and LOVE the L'Oreal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner. I think the felt tip makes it easier to apply than brush tip. I use it everyday with mascara, and for weekends/going out i wear it with eyeshadow. I use the black; I have light brown eyes and black hair. The thing I don't like about pencil liner is it gets all smudgy in my crease line.. ick. Liquid liner is the best way to go!!! If you're new to it, get one with a felt tip applicator.

the wnw bb reviewed is very good, and it comes in some really nice colors, which is also a plus. the potted wnw eyeliner is also ok (great staying power but very hard to remove, and it dries out after a few months). recently i bought a fake mac felt-tip eyeliner pen and i love it. very easy to apply, stays on well, etc. i wear it almost every day.

Hi BB!
I am a super liquid liner luver! For the longest time I wouldn't touch the stuff, but now I can't imagine my makeup routine without it.
My faves are Clinique liquid eyeliner in Dark Brown and Black. Right now I've been using Avon Perfect Wear Eyewriter in Evening Black and Bronze. These are pretty good too.
I have to admit I was not happy with the removal of the Wet n Wild liquid liner. It was way too incky and I could not get it off completely and cleanly. But I still have it and use it in a pinch.

Love your blog!

Thanks to everyone for the great recommendations! I will have to try the L'Oreal, Clinique and Avon...actually just got a new sample from Avon that I will be testing and reviewing soon. Yay liquid liner!

I like Stila smudge pots. Still perfecting my technique, though! ;-)

Great info. I've tried WW eye liner pencil before and I like it, so I'll definitely have to try the liquid variety.

Maybelline Stiletto is my all time favorite! It's so easy to apply, and it stays on for hours!

I’m using wet n wild smudge proof felt tip eyeliner. What am I doing wrong? The lid keeps popping off and drying out. I’m on my 4th each doing same

Oh no! Sounds defective, I'd return it. I can't say I've tried that one, the liquid liner has a long applicator and screw top so it can't pop off. That's my favorite!
