Beauty Review: JASON Citrus Satin Shower Body Wash

Recently I received a complimentary bottle of JASON Citrus Satin Shower Body Wash (approx. $13.79, 30 fl oz), which I have been using on and off for the past couple of weeks. While I had seen JASON brand products before at my local natural foods store, I was never particularly inspired to actually try it, perhaps because of the name (sounds silly and petty but "Jason" just doesn't pull me in) or because I had never heard anything about it from friends or fellow bloggers (a more likely explanation). Nonetheless, I was eager to give it a try because it's a made-in-the-USA, natural, organic option that's readily available and relatively affordable. If you've been curious about JASON products, keep reading to find out how their bodywash worked for me!

What they say: Pure, Natural and Organic: JASON Citrus Satin Shower Body Wash clarifies skin with Lemon (Melissa) Extract and Marigold (Calendula) Extract while energizing. Formulated with Panthenol to hydrate and condition skin, this mild cleansing gel leaves skin soft and smooth. Natural botanical surfactants gently yet effectively clean skin without over drying.

What I thought: Love at first pump! First of all, the generous family-size bottle gives you 30 fl oz of product, so while I advocate the thoughtful use and rationing of beauty products, it's nice to know you can use a couple pumps per shower and still get many, many uses out of this one giant bottle. It just feels indulgent! I also love the pump dispenser, it's neater and faster and just more convenient overall.

The scent is a rather sweet, citrus smell, reminiscent of lemon flavored candy. Almost too sweet but still pleasant. I checked the label and noticed that the last ingredient is "Fragrance (Parfum)" so I was a tad disappointed - if they could skip the fragrance, this product would be better. That's not to say all fragrances are harmful chemicals - far from it - but I personally prefer fragrance-free products. The color is a sort of opalescent off-white hue; I don't know what gives it that pearly finish but it's pretty. I could not find any dyes on the ingredient label which I appreciate as added colors just seem unnecessary to me.

The product itself has a nice, rich consistency that lathers nicely and rinses clean. JASON bodywash gets you clean without over drying skin. There's no lingering film, slippery tub effect or lingering fragrance. It was non-irritating to my skin - something I was a little concerned about since it contains lemon extract and orange oil, two ingredients that I imagined might be a little harsh, but there was no perceptible effects to my skin from any of the herbal ingredients whatsoever. I suppose no reaction is a good reaction for me when it comes to bath and beauty products.

Finally, the bottle looks cool, it's got that "green" packaging design that looks vaguely European and makes you look smart when guests peek into your shower and see it sitting there. It's great stuff that I imagine your whole family would be happy to use.

JASON Natural Products are available at health and natural food stores in the United States and Canada, or by visiting www.jason-natural.com. I saw them at the Atlantic Superstores and Sobey's when I was in Canada on vacation. You can also google the name to find their products for less at Amazon.com, etc.

don't use a lot of Jason products, but have tried a few of them. I actually have the lavender body wash in my shower right now. I love it. Its not too lathery and all bubbles like some, and the smell is great!

I love any fruity smell! I'm going to try this one after my cherry-scent body wash is all gone.
