Off the Rack: Forever 21 Fifth Avenue

It's no secret that I'm a HUGE Forever 21 fan, so when I got invited to preview the Grand Opening of Forever 21's 5th Avenue store in New York, I did not hesitate to wake up at 6 a.m. and ride that 2 hour-long train into the city for a press preview called Coffee & Couture. The store is gorgeous, meticulously organized, and all the staff members on hand were super cheerful, polite and eager to show off their swanky new home. Definitely worthy of its Fifth Avenue address! In addition to tons of fall layering pieces, cozy knits and outerwear, this Forever 21 location has loads of holiday party dressing options from embellished tops to faux fur to accessories like rhinestone jewelry, shiny clutch purses and platform heels.

The highlight of my morning had to be my conversation with Senior Marketing Manager Linda Chang, sister of Esther Chang (who heads the visuals department) and daughter of the fast-fashion empire's founders. We talked at length about everything from the company's humble beginnings to its bright future (watch out for bigger stores and more collabs, although don't expect them to be in the same vein as H&M). Linda struck me as incredibly intelligent, kind, humble and down-to-earth. She seems like a beautiful person inside and out. I liked that she said the focus of the company has always been the customer, that's why we've seen things like the launch of Faith 21 (plus size), Love 21 (contemporary mature), maternity, beauty and more. You had me at hello, Forever 21.

If you're ever in NYC, don't miss this super hot shopping spot. More eye candy after the jump.

I love F21 too. I swear at least one F21 piece is on me at any given time. I was in NYC in Sept for the first time and can you believe I did not make it to fifth ave? :-(
On another note, I love your blog and am a regular reader. Please keep up your amazing posts!

Wouldn't it be nice if all Forever 21's look so nice and organize.

haha Cynthia is so right! My city's F21 is only kinda as good as this one and half of it is just filled with crap.

geez, forever 21 has undergone an amazing transformation (i guess since the daughters took over?). i remember when it was just the cheesy store for cheap clothes for asian american teenagers and usually only in ghetto malls. i pretty much never entered because the aesthetic was so bleh, and the quality so bad. but now i'm curious to check one out.

I love F21, I'm there at least once a week, even if only for inspiration. I will definitely add this to my list of 'place to go' next time I'm in NY. Thanks for the post!

That looks amazing - I am also supremely jealous that you are only 2 hours away from NYC!!

I am in love with the booties and cannot wait to try braiding my own scarves at home like the last photo. Great inspiration, BB!

I see forever21 is moving up on like the Jeffersons! The quality of their clothes have really improved and now they're doing everything from misses to maternity. I can't knock their game, they just need to get better with customer service.

I am drooling over your pics of the 5th Ave F21! It looks like the mecca for anyone who loves the brand. I know about half my closet is Forever 21. I love their pieces, prices, and also I've recently been loving their selection of satchel handbags online. I got a pair of booties from there that look just like some Chloe boots everyone was coveting, but couldn't get!
