My Budget Fashion Goodies from Target

Over the weekend, I went to my local Tar-zhay to run a few errands - pick up some paper towels, scope out the new Global Bazaar section, hit the sale racks in clothing and accessories, try on a few pairs of shoes, mosey through the makeup aisle...ya know, the usual chores. So much to shop for, so little time - yet with so much still on clearance, so little money was spent! Here's what we bought...

Heavily Discounted LBD: When I spotted this Isaac Mizrahi for Target Taffeta Couture Bodice Dress on sale for just $12.48 (marked down from $49.99), I tossed it into my cart without hesitation. Tried it on at home and the fit is perfect. Made me feel like a ladylike Audrey Hepburn, although I plan on giving it some edge with layers of pearl necklaces, hot heels and bold makeup.

Fond Farewell: The Erin Fetherston for Target collection seemed to fly by, didn't it? Feeling nostalgic for this retired line - as well as the pull of a great deal - I decided to give this lovely Bonjour L’amour shirtdress a home. It was the very last one on the rack, you should have seen the look it gave me ("Pleeease take me! Don't leave me here all by my lonesome!") Originally $49.99, I paid just $12.48.

Puppy-Proof Boots: My boyfriend and I recently became the proud parents of the most adorable boxer puppy ever! Therefore, I was on the lookout for some cheap boots that I could wear during our many oftentimes messy walks in all kinds of crappy weather. Thankfully, I found just the ticket: These Mossimo Gillian Riding Boots are comfy, stylish (at least from a distance), and for just $17.48 (marked down from $34.99), they can take a beating (claws, mud, rain, slush, drool, chewing) and I won't have to worry one bit.

Get thee to your nearest Target! Also, we just found out that Isaac is LEAVING TARGET! He'll be joining Liz Claiborne. Look for a post on this HUGE news tomorrow :-)

I love the look of your boots and we use to have a boxer too. They stay puppies for a VERY long time. Enjoy your new infant :-)

Thanks Angie! He is QUITE a handful! My maternal instincts are in full force and I already couldn't imagine life without the little guy :-)

What is your impressions of the boots there? I have an upcoming trip to the great northwest but don't want to spend oodles of cash. I live in Costa Rica and boots are rarely needed.

Hi Bonnie!
I've had good luck with Target's boots in the past - the ones I've carefully selected in person have been surprisingly comfortable, durable, and garner lots of compliments.

Generally speaking though, I would recommend Target's boots if you want to experiment with a new trend, or if you're looking for something to wear in bad weather (rain, snow, mud). Or in your case, Target might be just the place to find a pair of boots that you may not wear very often.

If you're going to be doing a lot of walking, however, by all means invest in a nice pair of boots by Frye or a similar brand (you can find them heavily discounted at Nordstrom Rack, too.)

Good luck and enjoy your stay in the northwest!

Why is it that when I go to the site, none of these items are on sale? Are you shopping at a special tar-zhay or were they having a crazy 1 day sale (the day you happened to be there)?

Hi Diane!
I should have clarified that the sale prices were only IN STORE, not online - SORRY! I'm not sure why this is (maybe someone in retail can speak to this?) but my guess is that the brick-n-mortar stores need to move merchandise faster to make room for new inventory.

Thanks for the heads-up on the LBD super clearance! I went down to my local Target yesterday and found a version in Navy Blue and snagged that puppy up for that same great price of $12.99. I don't know where I'll wear it, but I'll find a reason one way or another for that kind of deal.

Now if I could only find those boots you got!
