Off the Rack: October Highlights at Old Navy

Old Navy Fall 2011 fashion highlights

It's starting to feel like fall, so I stopped by Old Navy this past Friday (technically still September) to pick up some layering tees and sweaters, but instead, I left with two very thin, very impractical polyester blouses in gray leopard print and bright fuchsia. Whoops! What can I say, both looked great and were inexpensive ways to get in on some tempting fall trends. I also found a quilted purse on clearance for $6 that's perfect for carrying my keys and phone while walking my dog or running errands. The piece I really loved but decided to pass on is the striped sweaterdress you see above. I'm just praying it's still around when the next ON coupon comes out or it goes on sale ($50 is a lot for Old Navy), it kinda reminds me of the stuff Sonia Rykiel did for H&M not too long ago.

Lots more pics after the jump. Let me know if you have any questions about the items shown!

Love your look! I tried on the emerald green version of that blouse. They didn't have the pink one in my size so I went with the short sleeve version.

Love all the tops you tried on! So...was I the only who noticed that ON hiked up their prices? I bought a couple things during the B1G1 75% sale, but thought the tag prices were high for ON. After the discount, they were pretty much the same price I would have paid say, a year ago? I haven't been there for awhile. Almost made me want to return them but I loved them enough to keep them. Lol

I've noticed that as well...but I've also noticed it elsewhere too. Things that used to be around the $19/20 range at ON are now more like $25. Remember a few months back how the price of cotton went up and they said to expect price increases on clothing in the near future? I thought that may be the reason. Not going to lie though, the quality of ON hasn't increased and for some pieces, especially basics like tees and cami's, I won't pay that extra $3 or $4 to buy it full price...during my last few shopping trips there, I've put back quite a few things I would have bought in the past and decided to wait and see if they went on sale instead.

It was a major toss up between the pink, emerald and the cobalt but i only wanted one..so I thought green... my mom ended up getting 3, but I got a utility vest on clearance for $7 so I just called it day!

Get me to Old Navy! They've been killing it lately. Loving that tan bag. Can't wait to go tomorrow. Hopefully the Canadian stores has similar stuff.

The striped dress is super cute!! But, I'd wait for the sale too! I have recently purchased the Old Navy wedge booties, and I love them!!

I too bought the impractical blouse (in red). I got a similar one in army green off the clearance rack for $6 a few months ago and was surprised at how much I actually wear it. It looks good with a pencil skirt for work or with skinny jeans and a pop of leopard on the weekends. I think it would also work under a loose fitting sweater.

I think the leopard one would look great with red skinny jeans.

Love your styling ideas, I'm going to try to get a lot of wear out of my shirts, too. I'm not sure if you can tell in the photos but the red skinny jeans I'm wearing are from Old Navy, too, unfortunately they were about 3 inches too short (fine if tucked into boots but I'd like to be able to wear them with flats, too) so I didn't buy them...heard Walmart had colored denim under $20 so I'm going to look there later this week if I can...

So glad to see how the stripe dress fits! I loved it in the store but will wait for a sale or a markdown. Did you size up or down on the dress? Could you give us your thoughts on the fit of the dress?
#13 Robin on 2011-10-04 11:07 (Reply)
Yeah, you can definitely pull off horizontal stripes in a way that I never could! x

I went to Old Navy today and saw that they just marked down lots of items. That colorful, striped dress you tried on is now in clearance for $15! It looked great on you budgetbabe and now it's a steal! How great is that? :-)
#17 Amelia on 2011-10-04 18:54 (Reply)
Do you know how much the booties in the last picture are?
#18 Aubree on 2011-10-05 10:00 (Reply)
The faux suede wedge booties are $36.94, but they may already be on sale in your area.
#18.1 The Budget Babe on 2011-10-05 12:23 (Reply)
So much cute stuff!! I think I really need that black hobo bag with the gold hardware and the booties in the last pic.

I agree about the price hike. I feel like I used to be fine buying things full price at ON, but now I can't buy anything unless it's on sale.

I found the sweater dress at Old Navy for $15 + an additional 30% off on Saturday, so I scored it for 10 bucks. I'm wearing it today!
#20 Bekki on 2011-10-10 17:59 (Reply)
I own half the stuff in this post, haha, love it! I own the sweater version of the colorful sweater dress in the first photo (I couldn't pull it off as a dress), the bright green version and the black & white plaid version of the cropped peacoat in the second photo, the leopard cardigan on the right in the fifth photo, the sweater dress on the right in the 12th photo, and I wanted the bright red jeans you are wearing towards the end (but I'm not skinny enough to pull them off).
