Where to Find Cheap, Chic Skinny Jeans

Dear Budget Babe,

I have recently come across a huge fashion problemo!!! In the past year I had gone through not one, but TWO pairs of extremely pricey designer jeans. Both of them ended up ripping in exactly the same spot, and I've had enough!!! I refuse to give this company any more of my money! So Budget Babe, my question is this - can you tell me where I can find a pair of long, or stacked, skinny jeans (longer inseam so they bunch at the bottom) on a budget? Please!!!

Sincerely,
Desperate and Drafty

BB: I've bought jeans at just about every price point and what I've learned from experience is that a great pair of jeans doesn't have to cost a small fortune. At the same time, finding a perfect fit is nothing short of a miracle (also speaking from experience), so when you find amazing jeans that make you look and feel great, by all means, buy them. Just make sure you're doing it for the fit, style and comfort and NOT the label alone.

With that in mind, here are a few places to look for those extra-long skinny jeans you so desire (great taste, btw!):

Delia's: Shop for jeans by cut AND inseam length (up to 36"!!), which is an extremely helpful search option. We recommend: Morgan Low-rise Skinny, available in 6 washes, just $39.50. What's more, if you buy one pair now, you can get a second pair HALF-OFF.

LeviStore: The great American classic (even if they're made overseas these days) has undergone a fairly recent facelift, offering a wider selection of current styles. We recommend: Ultra Low Skinny 521 Jeans, 3 different washes, up to 34" inseam, $58.00 to $68.00.

Charlotte Russe: Stylish jeans at Forever 21 prices. We recommend: Lapis Ultra Low Rise Skinny Chelsea Wash (featured above), $29.99

Bluefly: Designer denim at a discount. Browse their selection of Joe's Jeans, Paper Denim & Cloth, Sass & Bide, Earnest Sewn, Diesel and Habitual. We recommend: Joe's Jeans Dark Blue Stretch 'Chelsea' Skinny Jeans, $159 $95

Urbanoutfitters: The latest trends in denim are always at Urban. Check out brands like Lux, Levis and Free People. We recommend: Free People Stretch Denim Skinny Jean, $68

Dear Readers: Where do you shop for budget-friendly jeans?

Comments
I've found American Eagle Outfitters' Web site has good skinny jeans for about $50 (the only thing I buy there...) and have short, regular and long length, plus size 00. I've bought a few pairs over the years and they fit great and last.

I've also found a few pairs of skinny jeans at Forever 21 that fit perfectly, though most are too long for me, so when I find ankle-zip or ankle-length jeans there I stock up. If a pair fits great everywhere but length I just tailor them myself. I've gotten really good that it! I have pairs from there that were probably $30 that I love more than my $200 Citizens of Humanity jeans.

Express has nice skinny jeans in different inseams too, but their smallest size is too big for me.

I'll have to check out AEO - thanks for the tip. I've also had great luck with the jeans from Forever 21 - I wear them day in and day out and they've held up fabulously! Whereas my Diesel Fankers ripped along the back pocket seam after 6 months :-(

BB, this is sort of unrelated, but one thing that's always perplexed me is this: what's up with the really, really long inseams?!

I'm only 5'2" so I always have to get my jeans tailored. No big deal, but most of my female friends range from 5'4" to 5'9", and 35" inseams are way too long for most of them -- except for the really tall girls when they're wearing 4 inch heels, but they're the exception. On the flip side, my hubby is 6'4" and he only wears a 34" inseam, which I think is too short on him, but you get the picture -- I don't know too many women in the 6' range who can pull off a 36" inseam.
#2 cathy (Homepage) on 2008-01-30 13:05 (Reply)
I totally agree! I'm 5'3" and usually wear 4" heels and almost all jeans are at least 4" too long for me. I have to roll them up and adjust them in the dressing room to see how they'd look on me once I tailor them. It's so frustrating!
#2.1 taylor on 2008-01-30 13:42 (Reply)
Ladies, I feel your pain! but my problem has always been finding jeans that aren't floodin' aka too short. I'm 5'8" and wear a 34" inseam. Can't speak to longer lengths but perhaps some tall gals out there can? :-)

All I can say is I am 4' 11" and when I get the skinny jeans tailored shorter, I get all kinds of compliments!
Its not just for taller women, just the fact that you CAN'T find a pair that are made for shorter girls BECAUSE when the came into fashion, t5he models were taller women.
I am a model, just not run way so what you saying is people are wrong when they say I am hott in skinny jeans?!?!
I am a size 0 so its not like I am a fat lil girl or something. I am same portioned as a taller girl who was all around shrunk on a paper. If I was taller I would look like a stick!
Get it?
So you saying that the jeans are ONLY for tall girls is stupid and puts most short girls down.
I am very defensive on my height!
At least this site gave me some stores to check for lower priced jeans, but also put me down for being so small.

People who agreed that5 you have to be tall to make skinnies look good need to have their legs hacked off!!!

I'm 5'10" with proportionately long limbs, and I have an insanely hard time finding pants that don't fit me like capris. I have a friend who's 6'1" and she usually has to resort to buying and tailoring men's pants! I'll have to check out all of these stores- hopefully I'll find something that fits. Although I've always been more attracted to wide-leg, so I've never tried skinny fit pants.

Hey babe.
I feel your pain! I actually JUST came back to my own nation from a visit to Great Britain! I happened to find a store called 'New Look' which sells super cute skinny jeans and way sexy tanks to go with!
I doubt this helps but try it! Also, I went with some of my best girlfriends and they said Urban outfitters and TopShop work too. Hope this helps, cheers~!

Hi-
I have to its the opposite 4 me. I have 2 speak for all the tall girls when I say we often find skiny jeans that are only around a 32 inseam or only avail in tiny JR
sizes!I have searched long and hard for a 35" inseam which i would KILL for by the way! All the these great tips will hopefully lead me to 2 a great pair of skinny jeans that give me a few xtra inches at the bottm to bunch up at the ankle & look super cute with a pr of kick ass heels!
Here's 2 finding the perfect skinny jean ladies!

Well now you know one. I am 5'10" and I wear a 37" inseam. I am not even that tall for a woman; "tall" for a woman is 6' +. You short chicks don't have the right to complain about jean lengths. Even when a pair is too long for you, you can get them tailored, roll them up, or buy cropped jeans. We taller women are just SOL. Please spare me the sob story. You can go into any store at the mall and purchase a pair that fits. We have to search high and low online, and pay $300 for a pair of overpriced designer jeans that are STILL too damned short. Only 3 websites offer reasonably priced long jeans, and 2 of those only offer ugly teenager styles.

Hey! I am 5'11" and need a 35" inseam just because my legs are so long. They don't even bunch up on me. Be thankful you can get them tailored!! Tall girls can't go to a tailor to get inches added on. :-)
#2.6 Amanda on 2012-04-04 22:55 (Reply)
I too am a tall girl and I used to have a hard time finding jeans with long enough inseams until a friend suggested shopping at vanityshops.com. They have an inseam length up to 37"! Perfect for this 5'9" girl! If you are on the shorter side their jeans start at 22". I love their jeans because they fit every figure. I have recommended this place to all of my friends. If Vanity isn't your style try gap.com. They offer great sale prices and majority of their jeans come in tall which is 36" inseams. Check it out!
#3 Sylvia on 2008-01-30 15:55 (Reply)
I'm not sure if every Forever 21 carries them, but in Chicago they had two washes of long skinny jeans (I'm 5'2" and they were at least 4 inches too long) for only $12! One of the rinses is nice and dark (my preferred rinse).

sha'kaarii melendez WADDUP.LOVE WHATCHA GOTS TO SAY i agree with your man because i hate seeing "shorter frame women"short women with skinny jeans because you have to hav some "height"over 5'7 or 5;8 and slim leg at the bottom toward the ankle and upper leg that is sos sexy to me on taller women.

who ever says that tall girls can't find jeans hasn't looked very hard. I am 6'3 and I've found that especually in the past few years, jeans have been made a lot longer and it is easier to find 35''-37'' inseam jeans. I am from Madison, WI and shopping here isn't the greatest. Try places like Buckle, Vanity, Boston Store, Macy's (any high end department store) and so much more for affordable long jeans. It may also be worth it to get a $80+ pair of jeans. They last longer and have materials that wont fade or shrink. I'm going into Fashion Design so for all you tall lady's out there, I got your back ;-)

I am about 5'7 and I really love skinny jeans(on other people) but I've only bought 1 pair so far and they were too short and didn't fit right, i was so mad & discouraged. I'll admit that I do have hips and a butt so I wear a size 13-15, I'm not sure if I should give it another go, what do you think any advice?

hey, ladies ---I'm 5'11" and finding jeans is a nightmare. Or anything else that has pants. I have to pay huge bucks. So Don't be unhappy if all you have to do is alterations.
I'd love to be able to find a velour jacket and pants set with 35 inseam (that didn't shrink in the wash). somebody please--there are lots of us who are TALL out here----I just want the casual velour 2 piece set made of quality fabric that' not over $100.

I'm a lovely 4'9.5" and the guys go crazy when I where my skinny jeans. My insane behind puts me in a size 13, and when I go out with my awesome Amazon girlfriends, I attract the most guys.

I don't understand why ppl who can't do much about what height they become are so prejudice against others who aren't the same. That's ignorant and lame.

I'm a firm believer in: If you dress it right, most anything can look right. And there's nothing my man loves more than my fat @zz held up tight in some skinny jeans.

I am 6'2" and I am going to give some advice on wear to find pants that are long enough. These are the places I usually shop:
alloy.com offers 37 length inseams for jeans and for lounge pants, and they are relatively cheap!
Buckle.com offers 37 length inseam..The Buckle is also in a lot of malls if you are not comfortable buying online.
sweatsedo.com offers cut velour lounge wear in talls 37 inch inseams. These are my favorites....good luck.
Check out my blog I will be having some giveaways for some tall women's boutiques.

I'm 6'1" and fairly curvy and it is so freaking hard to find jeans, especially skinnys!! If I find ones long enough, they aren't big enough in size, and if they are big enough, I get a new freakin pair of capris, which are disgusting. I have one pair of skinnys right now that I've had for about a year and they are coming apart because I love them so much, so I'm looking for new pairs now. A big problem is that a lot of stores make jeans in thinner fabrics which aren't going to last very long. So if anyone finds a fantastic skinny jean, please, let me know!

Hey, my name is india , im 17 and im 6'3, i wear 37/38 inseam, and i am also somewhat curvy...I FEEL YOUR PAIN!...jeans are somewhat of an issue for me to. i went to alloy.com and buckle.com and those were helpful to me, but buckle can be a little pricey i always hit the sales button first..kuz unlike some sites, they DO have extra long jeans on sale..same with alloy. they both carry up to 37inseams...hope i was at least a little helpful..GOODLUCK!

this was really helpful for me because im tall (5'11)and have hips(curves)! so its usually a pain for me to shop. i hate when i buy jeans and they fit but arent long enough! it drives me crazy!! i had this one pair from wetseal 3years old and i just got rid of them! which is good because they were long. but ive grown. lol so when i found this and saw the inseams i was like "omg! this is the best day!&&its worth the price" only because they last. i cant wait to go now. :-) thank you so much

Hey ladies my name is lisa and i'm also 6'2!! I jus wanted too add one more site to your list...its (delias.com) they have pretty resonable prices and most of the time their jeans are buy one get one half off....which is awesome!! Good Luck!

I'm over 5'8" & under 110lbs, needless to say I've struggled to find the perfect jeans. Luckily I found Delias a few years ago. It is the only place I've found 00x36. I love all their jeans that I've gotten. For skinny jeans I prefer their Morgan style. True religion is the only other brand of jean I've found comfortable, but I can get several pairs from Delias for the price of 1 from true religion. Also their end of season sales are fantastic, I got jeans that fit great for under $10!

I'm 5'11 with a 35" inseam and I get it. It sucks that short girls can get their jeans tailored if the length is wrong but us tall girls are just screwed. I don't usually have the money to afford jeans that are long enough, and wind up buying skinnies and rolling them up like this: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3vFsOeGVkd4/TOqJaurBqRI/AAAAAAAADBE/6cPIMozU8Dk/s800/156483_980-thumb-466x699-53574.jpg

Thanks to all for all the websites and information on where to find long skinny jeans. I'm a parent of a 14 year old that is 5'10" and I was feeling like it was almost impossible to find her skinny jeans long enough for her. Plus she's very curvy in the rear and thighs LOL I'll try all the websites you all recommended.
