Sam Edelman for American Eagle Outfitters

Sam Edelman shoes has teamed up with American Eagle Outfitters for a (mostly) exclusive line of sandals and flats just in time for spring. Priced between $40 and $60, the collection included t-strap thongs, metallic gladiators, pretty ballet flats and ankle-strap wedges that look like Swedish Hasbeens. On the plus side, it's good to see a stylish selection of affordable shoes at AEO, but on the negative side, I can't really see anything that distinguishes these shoes as "Sam Edelman," which I've always felt was a brand known for having wearable shoes with a twist, something unique or quirky that made them stand out. You might just be better off buying American Eagle's no-name shoes which are priced, on average, about $10 less than those in the Sam Edelman collab.

I agree with you that these don't really look like anything special. Looks like the usual shoes/sandals I've seen at American Eagle in the past. Wonder what is 'different'?

Completely agree. I really like the styles (especially those two-toned metallic wedges) but don't see how they stand out from other AEO shoes.

I worked there for over 3 years (not working there now). The shoe and sandal style is exactly as pictured. Sandal clogs, leather flip flops with a hint of a bright color in them (those appeared last summer). However, we never really did much metallic, and the leather sandals above have more detail than what we usually have on flip flops. I might get them with an AE Reward.
