Eco-Friendly Friday: Willa Naturals

Eco-Friendly Friday: Willa Naturals

Back in February, we were introduced to a new skincare line available at select Target stores called Willa, and recently I had the chance to put a few of the products to the test. Founded by Christy Prunier and her daughter, Willa (who's only 11 - see image above), Willa is aimed to educate girls about the importance of a healthy skincare routine. The line consists of 17 products that reject the chemicals, petroleum residues and dyes used in many skincare brands. I figured you may have daughters, nieces or friends who could benefit from learning about this adorable new line, so read on to hear what I thought!

1. On The Go lavender facial towelettes: Infused with soothing lavender, hydrating aloe and detoxifying green tea, these gentle towelettes are great for cleansing your skin in a hurry or removing small amounts of makeup (like a tinted moisturizer and blush). I liked that you didn't have to rinse your face with water after using these, which makes them nice to have when you're on the go. You could use them on a plane or in the car to freshen up in the summer heat. They are a tiny bit drying for my skin but nothing that a dab of moisturizer can't correct. ($2.90 for ten)

2. Face Friendly Clear Face Moisturizer: This clear gel moisturizer formulated with green tea and mango extracts smells pleasant and feels cool against the skin, but it's a bit too watery for my liking (it can kinda drip when you're trying to apply it) and it leaves my skin feeling a bit tight and dry. My teenage skin probably would have loooved this moisturizer but at this stage in my life, I need something with more hydrating power. I'd recommend this for people with oily skin. ($11.50, 1 fl oz)

3. Foaming Face Wash: This liquid-to-foam face cleanser with anti-oxidant green tea leaf extract is my favorite Willa product and one of the nicest cleansers I've used in a long time. It truly feels silky and luxurious against your skin. I love the pretty packaging, the convenient pump dispenser and the subtle scent. The glycerin based formula leaves my skin clean, smooth and hydrated. I still follow up with moisturizer but I like that this cleanser isn't overly drying. ($11, 5.1 fl oz)

4. Cucumber Face Mask: It's been ages since I've used a clay face mask, and this one brought back fond memories of nights when me, my sister and my mom would all slather on that blue St. Ives clay mask that came in the big tubs. Good times. I loved Willa clay mask's Tiffany-blue hue, the scent, and the way this mask felt upon application - but as it dried, my skin felt super tight and a tiny bit irritated. I think this mask was just meant for younger or oilier skin, that's all. ($1.75, 0.33 oz)
