Beauty Splurge vs. Steal of the Week: Rosemary + Mint Shampoo

Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo Dupe

In this weekly column, I’m bringing you my favorite budget-friendly beauty products (and their high-end equivalents!) that are available online and in-store. This week, we’re chatting Rosemary + Mint Shampoo (!). Also make sure to check out my blog, HonestlyJamie.com for even more beauty product reviews and tips.

I love ALL things Aveda (they’re a great brand) and I was super excited to try the Aveda Rosemary Mint Shampoo because it’s known to add body to fine hair (which I have) without stripping the hair of vital nutrients, and the combination of rosemary and mint is honestly just delicious. The mint helps to wake up your senses and rosemary is the ingredient that helps protect your hair from environmental damage so, aside from the fab smell, it’s really just a great product…but at $13 a bottle? Personally, I’m always willing to pay a little extra for hair care just because I’ll do pretty much anything to give my hair more volume, but then I recently discovered a drugstore brand equivalent that is A-MAZING and, get this, only $3!

Suave Professionals Rosemary + Mint Shampoo actually makes a claim that their Rosemary + Mint Shampoo and Conditioner system is proven to invigorate hair just as well as the Aveda version! (This means they actually say “we’re just as good as Aveda” in ads, etc.) Now if the brand is willing to name names, I knew it was worth testing out. The result? I was super impressed and definitely agree that though I wouldn’t say the Suave version was “better” than Aveda, it definitely worked just as well…and for only $3. I mean, you can’t beat that.

I've got the Suave Rosemary + Mint shampoo and conditioner and I love it! It smells divine and leaves my hair in great condition. I do love Aveda products, but the Suave is a fantastic steal.

When you said, "you can't beat that", actually, you can. If you buy it at Walmart, it's like $1.41. Way cheaper than $3. Tip: Walmart usually sells things cheaper than other places. So if you like this shampoo and or conditioner, then look for it at Walmart, not CVS or Walgreens. You'll probably save money.

If you look on the back of the bottle, Aveda and Suave are owned by the same company so it is probably the exact same product
