5 Sites Like J.Crew But Cheaper (For Clothes!)

5 sites like J.Crew for clothes (but cheaper!)

Every time I get a new issue of the J.Crew catalog in the mail, I immediately start ripping out pages, tacking them to my (extremely disorganized and messy) inspiration board in my office and then hit the web in search of budget-friendly items that will help me recreate those coveted looks on a real girl's budget. I'm all for shopping at J.Crew for sale items and special pieces but building an entire wardrobe from this pricey retailer isn't for everyone. So here are the top 5 spots I like to shop for J.Crew-esque clothes on the cheap!
1. J.Crew Factory (Vest, $98)

Not nearly the same quality, J.Crew factory clothes are made specifically for sale in outlet stores. However, the clothes often have a very similar look to their J.Crew counterparts. Hence, the look for less.

2. Merona at Target (Long sleeve dress, $30)

This in-house Target brand often has J.Crew dupes, from sailor stripe tees to pencil skirts for the office. Also check out their accessories, from shoes and handbags to jewelry with a preppy, polished vibe.

3. Old Navy (Pinstripe shirt, $26.94)

We often think of Old Navy as the budget Gap (not that the Gap is that expensive, but Old Navy is the cheaper sibling) but they're also a good place to find J.Crew lookalikes for less, from graphic tees (remember the French phrase ones?) to pants and more.

4. Worthington at JCPenney (Zip front skirt, $28)

If you can look past the polyester blouses and questionable styling, you'll find Worthington has many hidden and not-so-hidden fashion gems that are especially great for work. Think classic with a twist.

5. Lands' End (Camo pants, $69)

This all-American outfitter has clothes for the entire family that exude J.Crew's preppy/classic vibe. Again, it's all about the styling, so take your styling cues from the J.Crew catalog and buy your budget-friendly look-a-likes from Lands' End. The quality is there, too!

Love this post! I am a lover of J Crew so finding any items that look similar but are less expensive is always a delight! I definitely shop at old navy to recreate J Crew looks because they surprisingly have a lot of great finds!!
Glad I found your blog!

I'd love if you checked out mine sometime :-) www.idodeclareblog.com

Thanks for stopping by, I'm glad to have found your blog too! Your plaid + military vest is perfect, exactly what I want to live in this fall as soon as I can find a similar vest to yours! Need to check Marshalls :-)

Thanks for the helpful post. However, I want to point out that it's confusing to see two prices associated with each item. For example, you wrote 26.94 for the price, and then under the image it says 10.00...

Thanks for pointing this out, I can see how it could be confusing. The image is generated dynamically and updates directly from the merchant's website with the latest price so it seems like the item went on sale after I wrote this post bringing down the cost to $10. Apologies for the confusion!
