Mix It Up: The Most Stylish (and Affordable!) Smartphone Cases for Fall

Smartphone style

Last weekend I was treated to an incredible week in southern California courtesy of Microsoft and Visit CA. (You may have caught snippets on Instagram!) While the whole trip was absolutely brilliant, one of my favorite experiences was visiting the museum at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising with our own personal tour guide, the one and only Nick Verreos!
Not only is Nick one of my favorite Project Runway alums ever, he’s a hilarious tour guide, and a gracious host. After our tour, Nick sat down with us for a little Q&A sesh while we chatted about all things fashion and red carpet, but after someone spotted his green and blue chevron monogram phone case, we got to talking about tech accessories!

I’ve always been a bit of a minimalist when it comes to phone cases and the like, but Nick made a very strong case for mixing it up and showing a bit of personality. Here’s a snippet of what he said here:

So, inspired by Nick and my visit to FIDM, I rounded up some fun and affordable phone cases. All of these ring in under $35 (most well under that), but aren’t scant on statement!

Stylish iPhone Cases

For your iPhone
Topshop $13 / Marc by Marc Jacobs $25.46 / Kate Spade $26.80 / Ban.Do $25

Cool cases for your Galaxy

For your Galaxy
Milly $24 / Marc by Marc Jacobs $31.99 / Caseology $7.99 / Delia’s $14.90

Chic cases for your Lumia

For your Lumia
Uncommon $24 / Cell Phone Trek $8.90 / Uncommon $24 / Cell Phone Trek $8.99 / Miniturtle $9.99 / acetag $7.99 / NakedShield $9.97 / TrekCases $8.94

What’s your philosophy when it comes to tech accessories? Do you stick with one tried and true theme, or is variety the spice of life?

And a big thank you to Nick and FIDM for being so wonderful! … And for instagramming this great group pic (I’m right next to him!) (Photo via Nick Verreos on Instagram)

While they are cute cases, all you need to do is drop your phone and then you have a cracked screen. :-( It stinks that the ones that protect your phone well are so ugly and bulky. :-(

I'm pretty sure I win the award for clumsiest person ever, and I've actually had really good luck with that minimal white case I mentioned in the post! I've had my phone and case two years, and there isn't a crack in sight! Maybe its just uncommonly good luck, but here's a link to the one I have just in case ;-) http://www.amazon.com/Case-Mate-Barely-There-Cases-iPhone/dp/B008U6PSSU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411827411&sr=8-1&keywords=casemate+white+phone+case

Did I read this right--you were in Los Angeles? Sorry I missed you. Would've loved to have seen you.
