Budget Beauty: The Best Blush

LOreal True Match Blush

Nothing can give your face instant color and a healthy, radiant glow quite like the perfect blush, and that's why I'm dedicating this week's budget skincare post to my all-time favorite blush: L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Blush.

This product and shade (I wear Neutral/Innocent Flush) was personally recommended to me by none other than Reggie Wells during my stint at Harpo, who just so happens to be Oprah's makeup artist. Yes, I'm name dropping but it won't happen again. (No other names to drop.) And I mention this simply because it just goes to show that sometimes a little expert advice goes a long way. I don't think I would ever have picked a color this orange-y for my fair complexion, but ya know what? It's perfect. So that's point number one: True Match blush comes in 12 different shades, so you have a good chance of finding one that's right for you.

Another great thing about this blush is that it goes on ever-so-lightly, but not so light that you can't see it. I don't even have to tap off the excess powder before applying (I still do out of habit, but it's really unnecessary.) You can build it up for evening, or just do a quick pass for bright color that lasts all day.

The compact features a clear lid so you can see what you're buying, a definite plus. Then on the reverse side, you flip open the compact to reveal a small brush and mirror. The brush is surprisingly useful, especially when you're on the go, though I prefer to use my larger round blush brush at home. The label also tells you which coordinating True Match makeup and powder shades to buy - another bonus if you want to wear the entire line. Takes some of the guesswork out of it.

If you don't wear blush, you should definitely give this one a try. I hardly ever wore blush until I found this product, and now it's part of my daily 5-minute makeup routine (exfoliate, moisturize, mascara, blush, lipgloss.) I used to doubt the difference a little rouge could really make. And so many blushes I tried in the past either made me look like a clown, or worse, a lady of the night.

But L'Oreal True Match Super-Blendable Blush changed all that. The plastic container isn't glamorous, and the words on mine are fading, but the pigment is still going strong (come to think of it, this thing has lasted a very long time!) - and of course, the price is right. Get it for $10.49 at Walgreens.com, or check your local drugstore - I'm sure you can get it cheaper on sale or with a coupon.

I think that's fantastic that you worked for Harpo. I am out of blush and would not have thought to try this one, but I definitely will upon your recommendation. Thanks.

Cool. I love this blush too. I have been hooked on the spice plum color.
