Off the Rack: Fall Boots at Marshalls (See 35 In-Store Photos!)

Cute fall boots at Marshalls - need these!
My quest for the perfect fall boot continues, so last week I visited a Marshalls in a neighboring town that's a little more posh than my area and found lots of great options. Many of the styles I saw were identical to the fall boots I saw at my T.J. Maxx...not surprising since they're owned by the same company, but I was hoping for a little more diversity. Still, the selection is strong: Ankle boots from Steven Madden, Franco Sarto, Coach, Lucky Brand and Michael Michael Kors stood out on top (the MK boots above retail for $295 here).

I left empty-handed, though, because I want the perfect Chelsea boot (aka the boot my husband says I already own 10 of), and I couldn't find it. Chelsea boots are grand because you can wear them with practically any style of pant (or dress for a cool-girl look) and any style of sock, and I am all about ease when it comes to dressing. So far the front-runner is this pair at another affordable retailer. And actually I didn't leave empty-handed...while my son napped in the stroller I managed to buy another decorative storage basket (my "solution" to combatting clutter), a step stool, new white towels, washable bath crayons, a sticker book and trail mix. I heart you, Marshalls.

If you're hunting for boots, too, check out the posts I did featuring boots now available at Kohl's and Target!

Have you noticed a quality difference in some of the Marshall's brands vs. stores like Nordstrom and Macy's? For example, I noticed that some of the Michael Kors handbags at my store look a little cheaper and the lettering for the logos don't seem all the way cutout. Then there are some that look legit and come with dust bags, but those are kept up by the register. It makes me nervous to buy some items there because I am not sure I am getting the "real thing". What do you think?

I think that TJ + Marshalls may get some things either made for them or outlet merch., just a guess. IMO, Kors bags are also not the quality they used to be as well.

I don't think they are selling fakes if that's what you are asking

I agree, I think some things may be made just for them. Thanks for the input!

I definitely think it's "real" but some of the mega global brands have so many different "lines" and the quality varies greatly... like Calvin Klein - no way are we seeing the same Calvin Klein that celebs wear. Maybe someone inside the industry could shed some light on this? It's like they license the name only. The Rag & Bone bag I just bought was definitely legit, came with paperwork and a dust bag and was secured to the shelf, I needed to ask an employee to get it for me! And of course, MICHAEL Michael Kors is different from Michael Kors in price and quality...I mostly see the former at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls.

Oh and then all the Cynthia Rowley home stuff - I've never seen it anywhere else, have you?!

I tried on the MK boots last fall, and unless they now have a zipper all the way up the sides, they are a PITA to get off! I actually was sweating by the time I pulled them off. I passed on them.
