Off the Rack: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's Runway Collection

LC Lauren Conrad Runway collection at Kohl's
Back in August we shared the news that Lauren Conrad would be unveiling her first runway collection for Kohl's during New York Fashion Week - did anyone watch the livestream on September 9? I have to confess, I forgot to watch (didn't see much buzz before the show) but I did check out the collection at my local Kohl's store this past weekend. That's right, this line went straight from the runway to the racks - and it's all on sale, too, priced from $27 to $150 (additional pieces online go up to $224).

I like this collection, scrunched as the pieces were on tightly packed racks under dim fluorescent lighting. I could envision someone like the lovely Allyssa (Life with Lyss) looking stunning in this floor-length ombre dress, this vintage-inspired duster, or this faux suede moto jacket. The floral scuba skirts were dreamy, too, and well constructed. And I could totally picture this ombre tulle maxi skirt being right at home at fashion week (in fact I saw someone at the Betsey Johnson show wearing a similar tulle skirt with a graphic tee - so good).

There's not much in this collection that I'd wear personally (although I may have purchased these ankle boots in cognac, not part of the runway collection) but overall it's fun, feminine and whimsical and worth a look for the upcoming holiday season, or to stow away for next spring and summer's wedding-guest circuit.

Have you checked out the LC Lauren Conrad Runway collection? What did you think?

These leggings aren't part of the runway collection but so good for fall!

So...I bought these boots, couldn't resist! $44.99 is still kinda steep though, not sure if I'll keep them. Need to sleep on it.

And really nice in person, too. A definite highlight of the collection!

I tried on the green skirt at my local store. Definitely size up! I usually wear an 8 in LC bottoms and had to size up to a 12 to get the hook at the waist to close. I didn't end up getting it, but it does seems to be well made.

Oh good to know! I couldn't try on any of the skirts/dresses/pants since I'm preggers so I appreciate this feedback.

Not much of it screams "Enchanted Woodlands" to me, at least in these photos. The coat and booties are adorable but the blouses look matronly rather than enchanted or even romantic. Perhaps they look better on?

I didn't have a chance to try anything on but take a look at the runway show:

Of course those clothes are tailored to fit models but at least you get some sense of how they look on people rather than racks. But I love showing how clothes look on the racks, too, since usually all we get to see are airbrushed model shots ;-)

Kind of feel like I've seen this all before from her

Agreed, can't say the collection is evolving. I guess this is what works so they're sticking to it (?)

I have tons of LC but now the only item I would buy is her leggings her quality is now traded for the $$$$ used to go to the NYFS - #NYFW. Most of it screams cheap and grandma prints made of scratchy polyester. Bye bye Laura!!

Thanks for sharing this perspective, you raise some good points.
