Molten Metals: 5 Metallic Liquid Lip Brands Under $20

Here's how to get the molten metal lip trend with beauty finds under $20.
This summer has been all about the metallic lip, and with more brands incorporating the finish into their formulas - as well as adding deeper shades for fall (hello vampy maroon and plum shades!) - this beauty trend is looking to extend its time in the spotlight. I first took note of the metallic lip when Kylie Cosmetics put out a few shades back in early April and soon discovered other lines were doing the same. The shimmery finish was gorgeous...I loved the modern look and it was another way to fuel my rose gold obsession. But before diving head first into the metallic fad, I wanted to test the waters. I needed a product that had an amazing formula and a flattering shade that wouldn't break the bank. Look no further than the following products. These collections have a shade for everyone, whether your look is demure or bold, and each lip product costs less than $20! Read on to shop my finds and see which liquid lip I can't live without...

ColourPop Cosmetics Metallic

1. ColourPop Ultra Glossy Metallic & Ultra Metallic Lip, $6

ColourPop has been my go-to for lip products for a while. The shades are gorgeous and the quality of the product is unbelievable for such a low price (especially when you factor in the $5 credit when you sign up for their newsletter). ColourPop has creamy glide-on lip formulas that are long wearing, plus with photos of each product swatched on varying skin tones, it's kind of impossible to not fall in love with at least one. The cult-favorite brand has two formulas for it's metallics. Ultra Glossy formula is, needless to say, a gloss, but in no way is it sticky or goopy, and Ultra Metallic dries matte and super pigmented.

Currently I am obsessed with Ultra Glossy Metallic in 'My Jam.'

Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme

2. Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme, $8.99

Milani is definitely the leader in drug store glamour. Their latest Amore Matte Metallic Lip Cremes offer long wear, beautiful bold pigment and a creamy formula guaranteed to keep your lips moisturized. (Nothing is worse than a matte product that completely sucks your lips dry.) Their bold plum, berry and deep red colors make this a definite must-have for extending this look in to the fall and winter seasons. Milani offers high-end quality for a fraction of the cost of a liquid lip you may find at Sephora. There are more shades available online but the colors above are as far as they stray from a classic nude line-up.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Metallic

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss, $16

For my fellow beauty lovers who like to stick to classics and nude tones, this is the line for you. Anastasia Beverly Hills lip glosses come in multiple finishes with the latest being the metallics. Long lasting and full of shine, these lippies are perfect to wear alone or over your favorite lipstick to add a touch of metal shimmer. I have yet to find an ABH product that I haven't fallen in love with and these glosses are no exception. Most of shades are available online only and I found the largest selection when shopping at Ulta's website.

OCC Lip Tar

4. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Metallic Lip Tar, $16

For those who favor bold, outrageous lip colors that are sure to attract the right kind of attention Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics is the metallic lip brand for you. Their Lip Tar formula got a serious reboot, with even longer lasting pigment and new packaging making it easier to take this on the go for touch-ups. Lip Tar goes on smooth and moisturizes your lips while sealing in a perfected pout. I love OCC's bold colors, especially since I have yet to find another line of metallics featuring lavender shades.

Kylie Cosmetics Metal Lip

5. Kylie Cosmetics Metal Liquid Lipstick, $18-19

Last but not least, the most polarizing of all the lip products, Kylie Cosmetics. Founded by Kylie Jenner, the brand has received a lot of complaints as it was starting up; causing consumers to either roll their eyes at the "overrated" product or give it a shot. I was both and eventually, out of curiosity, I placed an order. I thought the overhyped product was going to be a let down but I was so wrong. Kylie Cosmetics lip products are high-quality. They smell divine, the packaging is amazing and the formula is incredible. Kylie's metals go on easily and evenly, the formula is long-lasting and the pigment is pure perfection. Above are the only metallic shades currently, and have regularly been restocked lately so it's not such a hassle to get your hands on a lip kit.
