JK Jemma Kidd Cosmetics for Target

THE LOOK FOR...LESS?? Model turned make-up pro Jemma Kidd has created an "upscale" line of cosmetics for Target, JK Jemma Kidd. While we love the idea of having high-quality beauty products at Tar-zhay, we're a little bewildered by the prices - they don't seem to be much lower than her regular line. For example, the Jemma Kidd Plumping Lip Balm & Long-Lasting Color Duo (above left) costs $22.00 at Bergdorf Goodman. Meanwhile, a similar product, the JK Jemma Kidd Sheer Vanity Gloss and Glaze (above right), costs $18 at Target - that's just $4 less, case you didn't notice. What gives? If I'm going to spend that much on fancy lipgloss, I might as well order it from the fancy store. Granted, I can browse the JK line at my leisure at my local Target without having to pay for shipping, but still, it's hard to justify the cost when you've got $1 Wet 'n' Wild selling in the same aisle. I doubt I'll be testing these products anytime soon, so if you've had some experience with them, please share!

I agree...not much of a difference in the price...what's the point then??

I'm wondering how many of your average gals who shop at Target would plunk down $18 for a lipstick there. And in this economy. Sheesh.

If I'm going to pay $18 for lip color, I'll be buying my dependable standard: Benefit Cosmetics Silky Finish Lipstick (I like it in Make Nice), which costs $16-18 at Sephora. Its buildable, glossy, sheer coverage is positively perfect, although I may have to search for a new lip color soon since matte make-up dominated the fall runways!

One product for Target that is worth the price - Soap & Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss (I prefer it in Clear so I can layer it over or under any lip color), which is a lip plumper and gloss in one and goes for $9.99. It works wonderfully, isn't sticky, and isn't as painful as some more expensive lip plumpers. Check it out!

Interesting!!! I think I'll stick to my beloved Mac. But, Katie, I'll have to try the Soap and Glory Lip Gloss!

I love my MAC and Clinique lip gloss I have - but I do use the wet n wild ones as well. Work perfectly fine.

While I definitely agree that the prices are a bit steep for Target, I was one of those who plunked down the money and bought two good products to try from the new JK line: the Mannequin Skin Complexion Enhancer and the eye shadow in Editor. I feel that the JK line has some similar products as her regular Makeup School line (which I love), but in simpler to use textures, less palettes and more "fun" colors. While some of the products are definitely priced "high" for Target, such as the $18 eye shadow (compared to $14.50 for MAC and $18 for Stila, albeit both are smaller in size...), the quality is also comparable to these brands. The super-flattering Editor shadow was richly pigmented, very blend-able and long lasting. It is $7 less than her single shadows from her regular line. The Mannequin Complexion Enhancer is a brightening base and primer with a feather-light texture, great spread-ability and durability. It is $8 less than her Radiance Creme from her regular line and arguably easier to use for a non-pro. Hope this helps a bit in distinguishing the two lines.

I might not be keen on the prices, but it's good to know the quality is up there. Thanks for sharing!!

I purchased the i-conic eyes pencil liner in drama queen and the maxi-kiss plumping gloss in angelina. the pencil is great, very highly pigmented and smooth. the gloss is not worth buying at all- it says it's soothing, plumping, and the blue tint gives you whiter looking teeth. None of the above is true. It isn't soothing at all, it doesn't moisturize, it has no plumping effect at all (no tingle or anything), and the blue tint isn't noticeable enough to make a difference. If you are looking for that blue gloss effect go with Benefit's California Kissin', a smile enhancing gloss that whitens teeth but isn't blue enough to make you look like you're dead- a really great product.

I bought the lipgloss. I liked the lip gloss but for some reason the lip gloss had a bad smell
after a couple of weeks. I list the receipt
so I didn't take it back.

i actually broke down and bought some liquid eye liner made by jemma kidd at target. the color is gorgeous. it's called covet and it's a beautiful shade of teal. very vibrant, just like i like. i've tried a ton of different brands (i'm a makeup fiend) and i have to say i think it's a great product. it goes on smooth and stays on all day AND night! ha. so if you're willing to spend the money on a product you really like and need then i'd say go for it!

I agree that the "JK" line is pricey for Target must I must admit and I am sold on the liquid eyeliner is awesome!!! Stays on all day and night and I am a tried true believer with buying quality cosmetics(you pay for what you get in a good product). I have extremely oily skin and I have to honestly admit, this hands down is a extremely excellent liquid eyeliner!! Now if they could reduce the price, I would buy this liner in bulk.

I just ran into Target today to pick up some of the Sonja Kushak (sp??) foundation.
When I went in, I was so surprised to see several new lines of makeup at Target. Even better was JK, and wait....what's this...a real live tester. You mean I can actually play with the makeup and not have to deal with the mall for Sephora!! With my two young daughters, I am always going to Target for something, and I never attempt the mall with them. So this to me is great! I bought three items from JK and I will have to say the creme blush seems amazing!
Thanks Target for stepping it up a notch and making Target almost a real one stop shop.
