Off the Rack: Time and Tru Tops at Walmart

Need this top at Walmart, so cute
Back in March, I reported how Walmart had the cutest new fashion lines including one called Time and Tru, and another called Terra & Sky. Have you had a chance to check them out? I purchased two ruffle detail tops as well as some basic camis and tees from the Time and Tru line and I've been really happy with them.

After a reader tipped me off to these adorable peplum sleeve tops for just $10 (see how they look IRL here) , I've been eager to check out their fall offerings! I've been browsing walmart.com too and am obsessed with these ankle booties - so cute and under $20.

This utility jacket also looks promising. The only problem? Everything seems to be sold out online! I stalk the website daily so I'm not even sure how this is possible. Your best bet is to head to your nearest Walmart store if you see something here you like!

Oh, as you'll notice these are still mostly summer pieces. I hope to get back to Walmart as soon as fall fashions arrive, so stay tuned! (And please let me know if you're already seeing fall stuff - you can tag me @budgetbabe on Instagram or use hashtag #budgetbabefinds to be featured!)

I think that Walmart still has issues combining their online and in store businesses. I wish they would let the consumer pull from either source online. I know they want you to go into the local store and buy more, but it is aggravating. I’ve also experienced differences in price online and in store- which needs to be fixed. As for the new clothing line- I like it but what happened to my favorite White Stag brand?? I live in their solid color tees in every color but they were nowhere in the stores this Spring.

You make some strong points. I don't know what happened to White Stag, I'll try to find out! But yeah, Walmart needs to up their online game if they want to compete with Amazon and others.

I read somewhere that they are only going to sell White Stag,Faded Glory and Just My Size online from now on and limited at that but not at the stores anymore. I do like Time and True brand but I miss Faded Glory which used to be my go to brand from this store.

The stylish Time and Tru sandals i got back in the early spring are very well made, so ...I’m taking a second look at Walmart.

Totally agree about Wal-Mart. For so long, their clothes were just awful, but then they really stepped up their game with the George and other lines.
I loved the George line - I got all my business suits and other work clothes from that line for years and got compliments all the time on them. People were shocked to find out where they were from, but then Walmart stopped putting the line out in the stores (other than maybe one rack of items) and haven’t kept the online items stocked well for the last 2-3 years at least. I see constant laments online about it all the time.

Personally, I haven’t seen any items from their new lines that look fashionable. I bought a white t-shirt from Time and Tru that was ok, but the rest looks cheaply made. I also use to buy White Stag and Faded Glory for casual items, but they also fail to appeal to me anymore and just look very cheap.

Now, almost all my clothes are either from A New Day or Who What Wear from Target. I LOVE these lines, but have had quality issues with Who What Wear and don’t buy much from them anymore.

Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback. Good quality is hard to find. Our standards have lowered somewhat with fast fashion becoming the norm.

Today I hit every store, and landed up at Walmart. Purchased from Terra/Sky and Time/Tru. I agree that these are the best brands Walmart has had in a long time. I kinda love them. I wear a plus size -1X - and I want the clothes I wear to look current and flatter me. I got linen-look pants with a drawstring that are banded around the ankle on sale for $9 (3 pairs). Wonderful knit tunics with 3/4 sleeves and a asymmetric hem (2) Cardigans with 3/4 sleeves and a lace panel in the back to wear over tank tops (4 cardigans and 4 soft stretchy tank tops). Everything is extremely comfortable (yes, like more expensive clothes). I will just take care to wash them correctly and go over seams with my sewing machine.

I have bought my work blouses and pants from Walmart for years. George and White Stag were great. I could go buy 5 or 6 2-fer blouses in the same style and different fabric. These blouses were made well - wash and dry and wear - I have some that are 6 years old that are still in great shape. I used to buy 3 or 4 pairs of pants for work in black, brown, navy. Then they stopped with the different colored pants. Only black. Then they stopped with the classy White Stag blouses. Couldn't find ANY last fall. The Time/Tru and Tierra Sky are OK, but much more casual. It seems like they are doing what JC Penney's did - stop marketing to long time customers and changed their stock to appeal more casual to a different audience. Target also has very tacky Women's clothing but cute juniors. So sad that White Stag appears to be replaced. Nothing in Walmart now can compete for business clothing.

They've tried so many things in the years I've been blogging! There was a budget line from BCBG Max Azria group called To the Max that I really liked. Not sure why that ended. And there was Norma Kamali's collection, which always seemed a bit out of step with the times but occasionally had some good items. They also had a juniors line with Miley Cyrus and another line with Beyonce's mom, Miss Tina. I agree that there's a need for budget workwear and I'm not sure why they discontinued George or White Stag. If only they listened to Budget Babe readers ;-)

Time and tru tops
I bought several time and tru tops for my mom, size 2xl. They shrunk so badly, I can hardly wear them. I'm a 14. Terrible!

I'm sorry to hear that, I wonder what the fabrication was on the tops? You could always try returning them.

I love this tip! In fact, I just ordered a men's cargo jacket by the George brand online...I got the size small, hope it fits okay!
