The Correct Order to Apply Skincare Products

Easy guide! How to apply skincare products and in what order
Have you ever wondered what is the correct order to apply your skincare products? Cleansers, tonics, serums, oh my!

Skincare routines can be a bit overwhelming, so I decided to ask the experts at Pixi Beauty to break it all down for me.

Recently they sent me their new SkinTreats Vitamin-C collection which includes 5 key skincare products, so I knew this was the perfect chance to learn exactly how to apply these products - and in what order.

Here's what I learned:

The Correct Order to Apply Skincare Products

Step 1: Cleanser

Brighten & cleanse with a cleanser as your first step. If you have a face exfoliator, you can use that now as well.

Step 2: Toner

Tone & energize with a toner, which can also include tonics or refreshers.

Step 3: Serum

Treat & protect with a serum. These have the highest concentration of active ingredients, so you want them to penetrate the skin before applying moisturizer.

Step 4: Lotion

Moisturize & energize with a lotion or moisturizer to leave skin feeling hydrated. Apply any special eye creams at this point, too.

Step 5: Balm

Boost & nourish with a balm or facial oil.

Lastly, I was wondering if these should be applied in the morning and/or at night and the answer is: BOTH! So there you have it, a simple breakdown of how to apply your skincare products in the correct order. Of course you don't need to use all of these products daily, and if you apply out of order I'm sure it's not the end of the world either! My feeling is that skincare should be about relaxation and self-care, so do what makes you happy.
