Off the Rack: Spring Fashions at Old Navy

Old Navy Spring 2009 Collection

Spring has arrived at my local Old Navy, so I snapped some pics to show how these clothes look in "real life." Bright colors dominate this collection, which includes bubblegum pink and canary yellow trench coats; loose-fitting tops and sundresses in ocean blue and tangerine; layering tees, tanks and cardigans in a rainbow of colors, and full skirts in blue, red and brown.

Accessories are equally bright: I spotted some floral tote/beach bags, flip-flops in every color imaginable, colorful ballet flats and thong sandals, and lightweight scarves in an assortment of solids, stripes and patterns. Swimwear was a strong point for me (sorry my photos are kinda blurry), there was a nice mix of two-piece and one-piece suits in tropical hues, easy jersey cotton maxi dresses, and some cute embroidered kaftan/tunic coverups.

If you're looking for cheap workout wear, Old Navy definitely has you covered with a wide array of inexpensive support tops, yoga pants—even eco-friendly aluminum water bottles. During my trip, I bought a couple items from the last-call clearance section and called it a day. It's 38 degrees out today and I just can't bring myself to buy spring clothes until the weather warms up. But I imagine lots of spring breakers will be stocking up! What do you think of ON's spring offerings so far?

Ask BB: Marc Jacobs Over-the-Knee Boots for Less

I'm in love. My parents always wanted me to fall in love before 30 and I finally have...sadly the object of my affections is a purple suede boot by Marc Jacobs that will surely be out of my budget. Any idea where I can find something similar? Here's a picture of the boot as featured on the Marc Jacobs fall 2009 runway (above). —Bootless

Dear Bootless, You're not first girl to be seduced by Mr. Jacobs. But I think we can make this relationship work! Over-the-knee boots were a hot commodity this past season, and thanks to your keen eye, it looks like they're going to continue to be the must-have shoe next fall. Since retailers are mostly stocking sandals and summer styles right now, your best bet for recreating the Marc Jacobs purple suede over the knee boot at the moment would have to be the wildly popular Turbo boot by Chinese Laundry.

Now I know what you're thinking: It's not PURPLE! However, it's got the great over-the-knee styling you're looking for in either black, gray, or brown suede. And I would bet that Chinese Laundry will be making them in purple (or other colors) for next fall if you can wait. Best of all, these boots are under $90 which makes them a reasonable purchase considering how much you are going to want to wear them.

Spring Fashions at H&M

Spring 2009 Fashions at H&M

Spring collections have been steadily rolling out at all our favorites stores over the past couple weeks, and H&M is no exception. Since this fast-fashion giant doesn't have an online store, it's often neglected by this blog (sniff sniff), so I snapped some pics of the latest offerings to give you a taste of what I'm seeing here on the East Coast. A few key trends include the color coral, light denim, colorful florals, breezy chiffon blouses, khaki pants, flirty dresses and lacy corsets. I am so ready to shed my dark winter wardrobe and start shopping towards a brighter fashion future! How about you?

Deal du Jour: Hunter Boots One-Day Sale at 6pm

The Deal: Tuesday 2/17- Hunter Festival Boots, only $49.95!

Why you need them: This has to be the best deal I've seen on Hunters EVER! Choose from 15 different styles including the festival tall, short or laced boots in bright yellow, red, blue or classic black, chocolate or dark olive. I absolutely love my pair (and I thought I got a good deal at Gilt Groupe when I paid $58 for mine!) When spring showers hit, you'll be glad you own a pair, too.

Lesportsac Look-Alikes at Target

I went to Target yesterday hoping to see the just released Go International Private Label Collection 6 (I think that's what they're calling it), as well as the Erickson Beamon for Target jewelry collection (which some of you have already seen in your Target stores)—but of course, my Target didn't have either collection! Figures.

I still managed to pick up some cute things like colored tights, a cute satin bra, lace panties (I forgot how great Target's underwear can be sometimes!), this belt and these shoes (real leather uppers, not bad). Speaking of shoes, my Target did have a great selection of new footwear for Spring, including sandals, some cute Tory Burch-inspired flats (done to death, but these had a flower instead of a gold medallion) and some towering going-out heels for all your party needs.

I also cruised through the handbag section to see if the Hayden-Harnett for Target bags were on sale yet, but they were not. Prepared to pay full price (gasp), I had the black wristlet in my hands as I started walking towards the check-out, but as I examined it more carefully, I discovered the zipper was broken. No wonder it was the last one left. Boo.

LeSportsac Knock offs

In the midst of all this, I spotted some nylon bags by Xhilaration which remind me of the bright, boldly patterned bags by LeSportsac.

LeSportsac Knockoffs

I think they'd be great for travel, or toting makeup and other essentials. If you like the look, you'll love Target's prices. The End.
