Free People's Intimates Lookbook: About a Girl

Free People Intimately Free Lookbook

"About a Girl," Free People's new lookbook, makes laying around in bed all morning look so much more glamorous than it sounds. Sunlight streaming through the windows, crisp white linens, and of course, beautiful intimates.

But seriously, the Intimately Free People label is full of great layering pieces that can be paired with summer sheers and fall favorites. Delicate bras and feminine slips meet boyshorts and lacey hipsters. Personal favorites include the Meadows of Lace Slip, and the Eyelet Boyshort. The boyshort would be a great addition under any flirty dress, and the slip is sheer beauty. Just imagine yourself wearing its lacey perfection with an oversized cardigan. All while holding a cup of coffee in your hands adorned with too many rings. Can it get any more perfect?

This romantic collection features undergarments that are so beautiful, you may just find yourself wearing these slips as dresses, and the camis as "going out" tops. And let's not kid ourselves, we're totally eating up these dreamy pictures tracing her outline with phrases like, "wanna be my lover," and "I saw you in the faded light." Cheers Free People, we're falling in love all over again.

Pinter-Test: Does Vinegar Really Make Your Manicure Last Longer?

Pinterest: Does it work? Vinegar and nail polish
Each week, we put a different claim found on Pinterest to the test (hence, Pinter-test! Get it?!)

While some pins seem too good to be true (and sometimes they are), many of the tips actually work! As I pinned my heart away, my chipped nails seemed extra prominent when reading this trick:

"Wipe your fingernails with vinegar before applying polish. It dries the nail to help polish stick better."

To test this out, I used five different brands of nail polishes. I applied the polish to bare nails on my left hand, while applying the vinegar and polish to my right hand.

3 Ways to Wear: The Back-to-School Blazer

This summer I worked in an office, and found myself reaching for a blazer almost daily because it made every outfit more sophisticated. I loved mine so much that I started wearing it beyond the 9 to 5 grind, tossing it over dresses for dinner dates and parties. Now that school's almost back in session, I'm thinking about ways to wear my favorite blazer into fall, whether I'm heading to class or relaxing afterwards.

Here are three ways to wear the ever-essential blazer for back-to-school:

1. Coffee Shop Break: As tempting as it may be, I try not to wear sweatpants every time I study. Fortunately, denim shorts (or jeans) and a loose blouse are just as comfortable. When I need a little pick-me-up, I can toss on a blazer to dress up the look without much effort.

Big City Internship: You might get away with sweatshirts and slippers in the dorm - and maybe even to class (gasp) - but when it comes time to interview for an internship or work-study job, you'll need to make a good first impression. Enter the blazer, which lends sophistication to your favorite little black dress (you do own one, right?). Polished flats and stylish yet appropriate accessories will show your professionalism.

Off-Campus Party: They say the college years are some of the best years of your life, so make the most of your weekends by dressing up and having the courage to wear more daring outfits! Taking the occasional fashion risk doesn't have to cost a lot either: A blazer is the perfect complement to your favorite summer dresses.

Sneak Peek: Tracy Reese Spring 2014 Sketch & Inspiration

In a few short weeks, all eyes will turn to New York City and the frenzy that is Fashion Week - myself included. Here's what Tracy Reese, one of my longtime favorite designers, shared with me about the inspiration for her Spring 2014 collection:

"Tracy Reese spring 2014 radiates sensuality, energy and optimism with an array of bold, spirited styles infused with Afro-Cuban influences to create an aesthetic full of texture and movement. Balancing fresh, feminine styles and modern sportswear, the collection is rich in detail, including leather and raffia embroideries and authentic athletic accents.

Silhouettes range from crop-tops paired with full midi-skirts and cropped trousers to signature fit and flare frocks. Textile highlights include geometric laces, tribal embroideries and bonded technical knits. Prints, always a staple of Tracy Reese collections, include mixed scale gingham and window pane, tropical floral placements and tribal geometrics in a spectrum of pinks, blues, greens and ochre.

Building on Afro-Cuban cultural influences, key looks such as a bold lapis and scarlet floral flyaway frock with back ruffle detail, a striped scarlet and black flyaway tee, structured crisp white trousers and fisherman-inspired sandals express the effortless style of the modern woman who is sexy, assured and contemporary."
