At the Ann Taylor Fall 2010 Collection preview event, opulent accessories could be found not only on the lovely models, but also artfully displayed upon stacks of old books, mirrored trays and even glass cake stands along the length of a long wooden table in the center of Ace Hotel lobbey. It was an inspiring way to showcase these feminine, luxe-looking pieces with an heirloom vibe that will no doubt be as popular for dressing up a little black dress as a sharply tailored suit.
There were many familiar trends: Pearl cluster necklaces, Swarovski crystal drop earrings, grosgrain ribbon & rhinestone pendants, plus embellished flats, leopard print pumps, vintage-inspired booties, shiny crystal bangles and beaded cocktail rings. Prices range from $28 for a mini pave pyramid stretch ring to $248 for the signature satchel. Not cheap, but one gets the sense that these are investment pieces that won't go out of style anytime soon. Guests at the event received a goodie bag with a piece of jewelry from the collection (I got a substantially heavy crystal encrusted necklace—sweet! It's got an old-world feel that isn't my usual style but I plan on layering it with some chains atop a loose tee with a pleather jacket and jeans to make it "me.") Are any of these pieces speaking to you?
