Beauty Review: China Glaze "Jitterbug" Nail Polish

A few weeks back, China Glaze sent me three complimentary bottles of nail polish from their new fall 2010 China Glaze Vintage Vixen Collection, including Jitterbug, a grey chrome with silver micro glitter polish that I absolutely love. I wore two coats of Jitterbug to a wedding on my fingers and toes to glam up my bridesmaid dress, then kept it on for the start of Fashion Week because it looked good for an entire week. It's a versatile metallic that can go from day to night depending on your mood and attitude. My pedi still looks like new. Talk about staying power! I thought I had used China Glaze in the past but couldn't find any bottles in my nail polish stash, so this might be my first time using the brand but I can't verify that. All I can say for certain is that this won't be my last time. Really impressed.

On a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being "poor" 5 being "excellent," here's how I'd rate this polish:
Smell: 3
Applicator: 3
Coverage: 4
Staying power: 5
Ease of removal: 3
Color: 5
Price: 5 (found it for $3.35 on Amazon.com)
Additional: China Glaze is free of DBP, toluene and added formaldehyde.

What a pretty color!

I still have not learned the trick to doing my nails well like this... what's yours? I'm dying to know!

My nails have looked pretty decent ever since I kicked the awful habit of nail biting, so my first tip is don't bite or pick at your nails or cuticles in any way - ever. Second, I cut my nails after a shower when they're soft, then file and buff. Third, apply polish without touching the cuticle or skin, get close but don't touch; one stroke on the left, one on the right, one right down the middle, try not to fuss too much. Keep the coats light; better to do two or three light coats than one heavy. Let each coat dry completely before applying the next. Then I moisturize my hands and cuticles for a clean finish. That's it! Works for me. :-)

I just got 3 of their new fall colors: Ingrid, Hey Doll, and Bogie. Great Colors!! I also have found the best fast drying top coat: Essie good to go! Great stuff. I can do my nails 30 mins before bed use that top coat and no bed bumps or air bubbles in my polish.

Oooh, a smell rating! Luv you ;-)

I really need a nail polish that doesn't stink and covers well. It doesn't have to be super-duper-cheap since I only really need one or two, but I just can't STAND the really smelly stuff anymore, it makes my asthma act up. ;_;

Fast drying wouldn't hurt either... sigh. I think the polish I want doesn't exist ;-)

I'll add a drying time in my next review, that's super important. The China Glaze was probably a 3.5, not bad! As for the odor, I always polish in a well-ventilated area, ie. outside on my deck or on a windowsill with the window open. Polish usually smells pretty toxic and I imagine it can't be good to inhale those fumes. :-)

I love the color, and it's always nice when polishes stay on for a bit.

I bought a bottle of China Glaze nail polish a few months ago since the cashier at Sally's raved about it; and I hated it. It didn't have a glaze to it at all, it was more like a non glossy matte finish.

what color was it? i think China Glaze just refers to the brand name but not all their polishes have a glossy finish, they vary depending on the color. you might have better luck with another bottle! :-)
