Ask BB: How to Style Smoker Flats

I just purchased these great Mossimo "Vilda" turquoise smoker flats from Target (shown below). I fell in love with them when I saw them but now I'm having the hardest time trying to find something to wear with them. Help! —DM

These colorful flats are just begging to be styled in all sorts of creative ways. The smoker flat or slip-on loafer has this great, timeless silhouette that will add a little sophistication to even the simplest looks. I just bought a pair from Sole Society (The Capri in gray) and I can't wait for warmer weather so I can wear them.

Here are three outfits to help give you some styling ideas for your new shoes:

Look 1: Perhaps the easiest way to wear slip-on loafers is with skinny jeans. Instead of basic blue, try colorful yellow denim to really complement the blue hue of the shoes. Finish the look with a neutral top and clutch.

Look 2: Another way to wear these flats is with a short skirt (I say "short" because these flats have practically no heel and a high vamp, so a shorter skirt will ensure your legs don't look stumpy.) In the summer you can try pairing your flats with any number of sundresses.

Look 3: For a playful, menswear-inspired look, try pairing your smoker flats with cuffed pants (pleated if you really want to be fashion-y). I couldn't resist pairing the blue with a fun, pink polk-dot sweater. Add a serious bag to keep the look grounded.

How would you style the Vilda Smoker Flats in turquoise (or any other color for that matter)?

I love the looks you put together! I'm debating picking up a pair of these and the outfits you put together are helping to persuade me! ;-)

Turquoise also works really well with navy blue.

@BB: Awesome job putting these outfits together!

I'm a BB reader, and a reader of Clothed Much - and these shoes showed up twice in my feed this morning! I love how Elaine styled them in her outfit, with bold and playful colors:
