The Look for Less: Steve Madden 'Buzzzer' Platform Sandals

Steve Madden's Buzzzer platform sandals in black suede are $129.99 at amazon.com.

Get the look for less with the Xhilaration Primrose sandal instead for $29.99 in black or coral. I'm kinda loving the metallic accent on these. Click either image to view or purchase.

Get the Look: Rebecca Minkoff's Night Sky Nails by essie

Rebecca Minkoff Night Sky Nails by Essie

One of the coolest manicures I saw this fashion week had to be Rebecca Minkoff's "night sky" nails created by essie. While I wasn't able to cover the looks myself backstage, the essie team shared these step by step photos with me that reveal how the unique nail art look was achieved. Rebecca's Fall 2013 collection was inspired by the night sky and every woman's inner rocker girl, so for the nails, manicurists dropped 5 different nail polish shades ranging from deep blue to gold onto the nails, then swirled the polish with a small paintbrush. The result looks like something from Van Gogh's "Starry Night" - and I'm in love!

Off the Rack: Prabal Gurung for Target

Yesterday I finally made it to Target to check out the Prabal Gurung collection and there was still plenty of merchandise left for me to choose from. Nothing quite fit my baby bump, so I bought the dress I had been eying (short-sleeve dress in First Date print, $39.99) in a size that I hope will fit after the baby comes. Love this dress and it'll be perfect for spring! I can't accurately speak to sizing for obvious reasons but quality-wise, I think this was a very solid collection. The red full-skirted dress is amazing (material reminds me of grosgain ribbon) as was the sleeveless dress in Meet the Parents print. As much as I loved the shoes, I didn't love how they looked on my feet so I passed. Overall, I thought this collection was well-made, visually exciting and priced right.

I've heard from some of you already, and I'm curious to hear what everyone thought of the line? Did you like what you ordered online or bought in store? Which pieces stood out?

Joe Fresh for JCP Spring 2013 Lookbook

Back in July we learned Joe Fresh was coming to JCPenney, and now we've got a preview with the spring 2013 lookbook! Joe Fresh is a Canadian fashion brand that I fell in love with a couple years ago during a trip to our fair neighbor to the north, so I was super psyched about their partnership with JCP. While this lookbook isn't particularly inspiring (what's up with the clunky sandals?), I can't wait to see what lands in stores. From the lookbook, we can expect colored denim, breezy dresses with a global flair, and everyday basics like button-downs and cardigans in bright spring colors. I could see fashion bloggers rocking the green floral trench ($49, available April) above, or the floral top ($19, avail. April) and crochet skirt ($49, avail. April). Look for Joe Fresh at jcp.com and JCP stores March 15, 2013.
