Off the Rack: September Shoes at Target

Shoe love at Target

The day before the 3.1 Phillip Lim launch, I made a quick trip to Target to see what was new in the shoe department. Ankle boots are still going strong and with good reason; you can wear them with skinny jeans and even certain skirts and dresses. They're cute and usually comfortable which is why I can never seem to have enough pairs! This season, I think the Mossimo "Kyla" buckle boots ($24.49, target.com) are really strong as well as the Merona "Kaitlin" olive green ankle boots ($24.49, target.com). Both look more expensive than they actually are, and the green coloration on the "Kaitlin" is a welcome change from taupe and black. In the pumps department, I am loving the Sam & Libby "Dominique" ($39.99, target.com) in cabernet - such a great color! The only thing lacking at my store was tall boots - I only spotted one pair and it wasn't too impressive.

What shoes are you loving at Target right now?

T.J.Maxx Launches Online Store

Shop T.J.Maxx online!

Back in February, I warned you T.J.Maxx was going to launch e-commerce and, well, that fateful day has finally arrived. Everyone's favorite off-price retailer has entered the online shopping marketplace at www.tjmaxx.com, so you can stalk your favorite brands at big discounts online from the comfort of your computer or smartphone.

The new e-store is broken down into "just in", "women", "shoes", "handbags" and "the runway." There's a modest selection of items in each category (right now, 353 dress, 88 boots and 126 crossbody bags). I'm seeing lots of the same designers that I see in stores, a mix of recognizable and not-so-recognizable brands. Cynthia Rowley, Jessica Simpson, Kenneth Cole. In the runway section, I'm seeing designers I don't typically get at my local TJ's, like DVF and Roberto Cavalli. One downside is that you can't search by designer (go ahead, try it).

Some highlights I'm noticing include these Dolce Vita "Jamala" leather booties ($79.99), an emerald green DVF blouse ($99.99), and cognac Nanette Lepore satchel ($199.99).

The prices are good but I'm not whipping out my credit card just yet. I still prefer shopping at T.J.Maxx in person at this point, but it's good to know the online option exists.
