Off the Rack: July Highlights at Kmart

A few days ago I popped into a Kmart store in New York City to check out what was new (and to cool off from the exhausting heat). I found some of the most agreeable fashions near the entrance from Route 66. This brand is targeted towards teens, but there were a lot of cute tees, tanks, shorts, jeans and pants priced under $20 that anyone could work into their wardrobe. I liked a striped neutral tank with neon lace detailing and a dark-denim jean jacket, a great wardrobe staple. Moving on, I saw some cute blouses, skirts and dresses from the Attention and Apostophe lines. I really wanted to buy some printed shorts and a colorful romper (you see them so often in the city, it's kinda contagious) but I had an event to attend and I didn't want to show up with an armful of shopping bags. Next time! Click through for more photos. Anything catch your eye?

Budget Beauty: How to Create a Soft Smokey Eye for Day

Last week I met up with my friend Tiffany Hall, a makeup artist who works for top brands like Stila Cosmetics and L'Oreal, at the Ulta Beauty store in North Haven, Connecticut. I loved the look that Tiffany created for me when I shot the Jeep Compass video for Glam (which is how we met), so I asked her to share some of her expert secrets with all of us, beginning with a soft smokey eye look that's perfect for work or casual weekends. Watch the short how-to video above for the step-by-step tutorial. It's so simple, even I can do it!

Here are the exact products Tiffany used:

Express Holiday 2011 Runway Show Finale in Times Square

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed my tweets from last night's Express runway show in New York City's Time Square.

Express and Lucky magazine invited eight fashion bloggers to get a front row seat after outfitting each of us in our own uniquely fabulous Express ensemble. I wore a strapless tomato red dress, woven leather belt and bold gold cuff, perfect for a steamy night like last night (get your heat wave).

Here's a quick look at the show's finale, featuring shiny sequin minidresses, gorgeous gemstone hues and body-con silhouettes from the Holiday 2011 collection. These are the looks you'll be seeing in magazines, mailers and stores come Fall, so look out for them soon!

Thanks to Express and Lucky mag for making this an evening I'll never forget! FTC Disclosure: Each blogger received complimentary clothing and a $200 Express giftcard in association with this event.

Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's 'Impulse' Collection Sketches

Macy's shared a few sketches with me from its upcoming collaboration with designer Karl Lagerfeld (who is of course the man behind Chanel) for a capsule collection set to launch in Macy's "Impulse" departments this fall.

Featuring limited-edition women's apparel pieces reminiscent of the designer's signature style, Karl Lagerfeld for Impulse Only at Macy's will be sold in approximately 235 Macy's stores nationwide and on macys.com beginning August 31.

The collection is a blend of refined dresses, airy tops, modern tweeds and Lagerfeld's signature high-collared neck, priced on average from $50 to $170.
