Name That Knock-Off: See-Through Wedges

Rianna Metallic Wedge, $22.80 at Forever 21

Designers are always looking for new ways to reinterpret the shoe, and so it follows that the heel of the shoe has become a locus for sartorial reinvention. Or, in the case of copycats such as Forever 21 (bless their soles), the heel becomes the object of imitation. Now, I could be wrong about these Rianna Metallic Wedges (above), but I'm pretty sure they copied a certain American designer who created a certain stand-out, see-through wedge this past season...so that's your clue. Can you guess who got knocked-off? Answer's after the jump...

Bag Trends: Fabulous Fringe

A little while back I featured the fringe sandal trend, which was met with lukewarm reviews, but some of you said you might be persuaded to give fringe a chance if it were to appear on an accessory such as a handbag. It just so happens that fringed bags are really hot right now, and they're not just for hippies, bikers, cowgirls or Pocahontas wannabes--oh, no. Designers are taking fringe from the fringe of fashion, if you will, and pushing it to high-fashion limits. It's not exactly a new trend (MK Olsen still loves her Prada Napa Fringe Hobo from '07) but it seems to be reaching its peak at fast fashion chains. I picked up a genuine leather fringed purse at Old Navy (above) for $24.80--and I love it. I was skeptical at first, but after wearing it out a few times, I'm sold on this whole fringe thing...they have such great movement when you walk, and add a lot of drama to an otherwise simple outfit. Just a word of caution if you have a puppy or cat: They will attack your purse. The swaying, tantalizing fringe is irresistible to them, and I can't blame them.

While the purse I bought is not available online, I found plenty of other cheap & chic options...one of them just might be calling your name...
