Dianna's Picks: Summer Beauty Essentials

Summer Beauty Essentials
We've been taking turns here on the blog sharing our summer beauty picks (see what Team BB writers Lauren, Sophia and Ashley are loving), and now it's my turn. While I don't have much time to devote to my beauty routine these days, I've been able to focus on fewer products that are hopefully better, and yes, a bit more expensive...but I'm in my mid-thirties now, so it's allowed. Here's what I've been using this summer that I think you'll love, too:

1. It Cosmetics Sunshine In A Compact ($34, ulta.com)
It Cosmetics recently gifted me this bronzer and it's become my go-to for adding a subtle glow to my skin just about every day. I was previously a drugstore bronzer kind-of-gal but this product makes me think it might be worth spending a bit more on something that looks super natural, won't settle into creases, and doesn't have a strange smell. I don't wear foundation or even a tinted moisturizer in the summer (although I probably should after seeing myself on Snapchat...gasp) so this bronzer is the next best thing.

2. Gottex Pitch Perfect Hat ($36.40 down from $52, bloomingdales.com)
My number one beauty essential isn't makeup, it's a hat! I wear many hats in the summer to shield my face from the sun, disguise my frizzy hair, and add a style element to simple t-shirt and jean short ensembles. Gottex hats are sun protection you wear; this style hat boasts UPF 50+. I bought mine at a steep discount on ruelala.com but linked to a similar style for this post.

3. EO Organic Deodorant Spray ($4.63, amazon.com)
I don't like to use harsh chemical antiperspirants, especially while I'm nursing. Instead, I've had really good luck with natural deodorant sprays. I picked up my bottle of EO Organic Deodorant Spray at T.J. Maxx for under $5 and I love it. The bottle has lasted me many months and I love that you can spray it on even when you're sweaty for a quick refresh. Besides, a product with 385 five-star ratings on amazon.com has to be good, right?

4. Pixi by Petra Nourishing Lip Polish ($12, target.com)
I often find lip products that claim to hydrate yet dry out my lips even more. This lip polish came to me courtesy of Pixi by Petra, which is a premiere beauty brand that's sold at Target, and I'm a big fan. It helps remove dry skin from your lips, gives a fab plumping look and keeps my pout moisturized and shiny. I can put it on without a mirror for an instant lip makeover. Good stuff!

5. L'Occitane Shea Butter Set ($35, nordstrom.com)
My mom gave me some L'Occitane shea butter as a gift once and now I'm convinced it's worth every penny. I use the shea butter on my toes to give an instant pedicure look - as it soaks in, dry skin disappears and your toes look sandal-ready all day long. A little goes a long way. All you really need is the shea butter tin but I've linked up to the gift set because my birthday's coming up and I need to drop hints.
